5 Automation Rules That’ll Save You From Rookie Mistakes:

1.) Start with one tool, not five

Master Zapier before jumping into Make, N8N.

2.) Make sure to map it before you build it

Sketch out your process first with pen & paper saves hours of messy work later.

3.) Test with fake data first

Never go live without running dummy info through your flows. You don’t want your client to be the first to notice.

4.) Build for failure, not perfection

Even in Zapier or Make, errors happen. Use error handlers, notifications, and filters to avoid silent failures.

5.) Keep it readable & modular

Name your Zaps and steps clearly. Reuse modules when you can. This makes scaling and handoffs way easier.

I built a CRM in Airtable.
Leads get automatically added to the CRM when they fill a form.
I added a little automation that sends a slack message notifying team member that a new lead has been added to the CRM
