ETHIOPIA ― Nearly 50% of Oromos are believed to be Muslims, yet Orthodox Christians continue to face targeted massacres, particularly in Arsi Zone, allegedly at the hands of Muslim extremists.
Jawar Mohammed, once a prominent opposition figure and now an ally of Abiy Ahmed, once made a chilling statement about his predominantly Muslim Oromo region, claiming that 99% of its population are Muslim and there, no one dares to speak out because we will chop their heads off with a machete.
That statement, if accurately quoted and understood in its original context, may offer insight into the conditions that have allowed recurring violence against Orthodox Christians to persist in parts of Oromia.
🚨 Patrice Evra on Michael Carrick staying at Manchester United: “Now the players have run out of excuses.”
🗣️ Patrice Evra:
“Honestly, if Michael Carrick stays at Manchester United, I think some players need to look at themselves in the mirror.
“Every season, we hear the same things. New manager, new tactics, new system, new project. Everybody gets excited, the fans start believing again, and suddenly we are talking about a fresh start.
“But what happens when things go wrong? The manager becomes the problem. The tactics are questioned. People start asking for another rebuild. And the players? Somehow, many of them survive to see another manager arrive.
“Listen, I played for Manchester United. I know what that badge means. This is not a club where you can perform well for three games, disappear for five, and expect the supporters to keep defending you because you are a big-name player.
“If Carrick is given the job, he must be judged on his decisions, his results and the football he produces. But the players must also understand that a new manager is not a magic wand. He cannot give you desire, concentration and responsibility if you refuse to bring those things yourself.
“Some players have worked under different managers, different coaches and different systems. At what point do we stop saying they need time to adapt? How much time does a professional footballer need to understand that he must fight for every ball and give everything for his club?
“And let me tell you something: if Carrick comes in and starts getting results, don’t suddenly praise the manager while forgetting the players who were making excuses before he arrived. And if things go badly, don’t immediately throw him under the bus either.
“Manchester United cannot keep changing the person in the dugout while expecting the same group of players to suddenly become a different team.”
“The fans have waited long enough. They don’t want another promise. They want to see commitment, consistency and players who understand the responsibility of wearing that shirt.
“If Michael Carrick stays, let him build. Let him make his decisions. But nobody should be comfortable simply because another manager has arrived to take the pressure off them.
“At Manchester United, your reputation should not protect you from criticism. Your performances should speak for you. The excuses must end.”
🚨NOTHING will change at Manchester United until the people making these DISASTROUS decisions start taking responsibility for the absolute MESS they’ve created.
Jason Wilcox, Omar Berrada, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and everyone else involved in running this club need to be held ACCOUNTABLE.
They’ve made mistake after mistake, wasted millions, failed managers in the transfer market, and somehow it’s ALWAYS the manager who ends up losing his job while everyone above him carries on as if nothing happened.
And here’s my biggest concern…
Do you believe ELITE managers like Antonio Conte, Unai Emery or Julian Nagelsmann would look at Manchester United right now and happily accept this structure?!
I’d be absolutely SHOCKED if any of them agreed to come here without having a serious say in transfers, squad building and how the football side of the club is run.
Yes, there are reports suggesting Nagelsmann and Conte are interested, but interested in the JOB and willing to work under this current structure are TWO VERY DIFFERENT THINGS.
These are TOP managers with their own ideas, standards and demands. They’re not going to simply nod along with everything Jason Wilcox wants.
And that’s exactly why I fear we’ll end up with Eddie Howe.
Not because I think he’s the best manager available, but because I worry the people running this club would rather have someone who fits THEIR system and doesn’t challenge their decisions.
We don’t need another YES-MAN. We need a WORLD-CLASS manager who is allowed to MANAGE.
But more importantly, we need people above him who actually know what they’re doing. Because you can bring in Luis Enrique, Hansi Flick, Guardiola, Zidane, Klopp or ANY manager in world football, and NOTHING will change if the same people keep making the same mistakes.
I’m absolutely SICK of watching this cycle repeat itself. 🤬
The Stretford End are making it clear that even if this is the end for Michael Carrick, they know the problems run far deeper.
With 15 minutes remaining and their team 3-0 down, they chanted for Carrick — and have followed that up with incessant, and deafening, anti-ownership chants at both the Glazer family and Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

@Jawar_Mohammed@FarahMaalimM Obo, the problem is that Oromo is chewing more than it can swallow. Opening war in all corners just because the state power is in your hand is stupidity at best.
This is a devastating escalation of this recent wave of targeted killings of Orthodox Christians in Oromia, Ethiopia.
Dozens killed. Homes destroyed. No response.
This should not be ignored.
Another piece of evidence of the mass deployment of Oromia Special Forces with heavy weapons in the Somali Region, amid allegations of atrocities and genocide against Somali civilians in Moyale.
