the fun thing about the locked tomb is it’s decidedly not a romance yet gideon and harrow’s relationship is integral to the plot and like, omnipresent but there’s also a solid chance that they won’t even get to do as much as directly express their feelings to each other
the jarring difference between the pit girl scene in the pilot and full circle is really well done i think. it succeeds in illustrating an outside perspective and contrasting it with that of the yjs, the former seems mystic and scary while the latter is more messy and very human
anyways i‘ve recently started watching yellowjackets with a friend who hasn’t seen the show before so i‘ll rewatch s3 soon. hopefully i‘ll like it more the second time around because it saddens me that i can’t seem to bring myself to care about mostly anything about it rn
opinion on s3 as of right now is i wish i liked it more than i do. it would be unfair to blame that entirely on the writing, something about the season overall just didn’t work for me that is unrelated to "bad writing". i do also think they made some questionable choices though
a thing that stayed very consistent in yellowjackets and that i still love is the predictability of the teen timeline despite all mysteries and horrors in juxtaposition to the much more chaotic almost absurd nature of what should be mundane and familiar in the adult timeline
idk i thought this was beautifully done in s1 now…not so much anymore but the idea is still there. in theory everything, every death, is well placed, i know its all supposed to feel unwarranted and out of place but somehow it‘s not very well executed i can‘t quite explain why
they ate jackie taylor bacchanal style while climbing up the walls was playing i‘m filled with horror and happiness every time i remember that actually happened
i have a deep love for the yj ost and it getting woven into the narrative as it is in episode 6 makes me really happy. though the female choir vocals are great without any meaning behind them it adds an extra layer that is not that commonly made use of in tv scores
coming to realize that to me one of the most interesting themes of the show is hope/something akin to hope persisting even if faced with futility. watching dead characters keep going kind of encapsulates that perfectly though that might not be used as well as it could be so far
the bleakness posed by yellowjackets characters dying in the adult tl but living on in the wilderness, going through terrible things is heartbreaking and infuriating in a very poignant way
