Why Indian cars die early!

1. Our roads, or rather the lack of them! Potholes and speed breakers are harsh on cars, and they result in cars falling apart before engines give up.

2. Slow speeds. (contrary to what most people believe, idling in traffic damages a car way more than zipping across highways at 120 Kmph).

3. Short commutes with frequent stop-start (driving a car for 5-10 Kms a day is most damaging). 70 % of engine wear happens at start-up. Even if you use synthetic oil!

4. Lack of a 'car culture'. Most of us are first time car owners (mainly because we can only afford cars now), and it'll be a while before India has a significant car culture that appreciates engineering and keeps them on the road for longer. With EVs rising, we may completely miss a car culture as the automobile may become an appliance like say a smartphone: use and throw! I hope I'm wrong on this.
