At 20, Bittu Tabahi stepped into a polluted river — without gloves, boots or even knowing how to swim — and started cleaning it himself.

On 26 January 2026, the BSc student from Madhya Pradesh began cleaning the Ajnar River near a temple in Biaora, removing plastic and other waste that had turned parts of the river into a dumping ground.

He even began turning puja waste into compost and pooled money with friends to buy tools and dustbins.

The effort cost him around ₹30,000, and at one point, he suffered infections on his hands.

Then his work reached thousands online. Some accused him of doing it for likes.

Bittu’s surname means “destruction.” Today, he is trying to destroy something else: water pollution.

Because sometimes, change begins when one person stops waiting for someone else to start.

He cleared NEET twice with top scores but still found himself outside a classroom because the EWS reservation in Madhya Pradesh private medical colleges was never implemented.

At just 19, Atharva Chaturvedi walked into India’s Supreme Court armed not with emotion, but with the Constitution, past judgments, and his own petition. He had studied law from online court videos at home in Jabalpur, drafted his Special Leave Petition himself, and filed it online to save travel costs.

When the bench was rising for the day, he asked for ten more minutes to present his case. They listened.

In less than ten minutes, the Court invoked its extraordinary constitutional powers and directed that he be granted admission under the EWS quota. The judges noted it was law, not theatrics, that carried him through.

Atharva’s story is unforgettable because it is not just a legal victory. It is a young aspirant from an economically weaker background learning law on his own, standing before the country’s top judges, and winning through clarity, courage, and persistence.

Soon, he will step into a medical classroom that he had been denied—through justice, not chance.

An Open Letter to the Jantar Mantar protestors:

My dear young friends,

I address you today not as a politician or an MP, but as someone deeply troubled by what is happening to your generation of young Indians.

This is personal for me. I was born to a middle-class family: my father was a salaried newspaper employee, my mother a homemaker, with three children to educate on one income. For a family like ours, merit was not a slogan. Scholarships, fair examinations, honest results — these were the only way one salary could carry three children's dreams.

I went to school in Mumbai and Kolkata, to college here in Delhi, topped the University and earned admission into IIM — and chose instead to follow my passion for international affairs, in America, on a scholarship. Nothing was inherited; everything was earned by hard work and yes, Exams.

So I know that a fair, merit-based system is the only ladder for young people from lower and middle-income families to climb up. When that ladder is broken — papers leaked, examinations cancelled, trust destroyed — the children of the rich and powerful do not suffer. They have other ladders. It is your dreams, and your families' sacrifices (and tragically, in some homes, young lives themselves) that are betrayed.

To the young people gathered at Jantar Mantar, and those raising your voices peacefully across India: this country hears you. Your anger is not indiscipline — it is the anguish of a generation that did everything right and was still betrayed . You are not alone.

And to the millions of young Indians watching quietly: your generation is not a problem to be managed. You are the answer to India's future. Do not lose hope. This ladder will be rebuilt — by you, and by every Indian who stands with you.

To Shri Sonam Wangchuk-ji, my heartfelt appeal: please end your fast. You have awakened the conscience of the nation; that is what a fast is meant to do. India needs your voice for the long road ahead.

With Parliament in session again from Monday, we will have an opportunity to raise the students’ issues in the highest forum of our democracy. That’s where the problem should be addressed, not by fasting unto death. Please heed my plea.

And finally, to the Government: I respectfully urge you to reach out and engage in the dialogue our democracy owes its young citizens. That is not weakness; that is statesmanship.

Scaling the world’s highest peak with unmatched courage and determination, BSF’s first ever All Women Mt. Everest Expedition Team has scripted history under #MissionVandeMataram by successfully summiting Mt. Everest.

The BSF’s First all women mountaineering team comprising of Constable Kouser Fatima
from Ladakh, Constable Munmun Ghosh from West Bengal, Constable Rabeka Singh from Uttarakhand and Constable Tsering Chorol from Kargil, successfully summited the Mt Everest (8848.86 M) at 8 AM (IST) today.

Celebrating the BSF Diamond Jubilee Year, the Mahila Seema Praharis carried the spirit of ‘Vande Mataram’ to the top of the world. At an altitude where most people require oxygen support and even standing upright is a challenge, they sang Vande Mataram in one unwavering voice - creating a historic milestone that reflects the strength, resilience and indomitable spirit of Nari Shakti.
