I always tell people this but they just won't listen. The Mexican foods all bear Mexican names without apology, so I don't know why we must look for English names for our food
I don’t know who needs to hear this:
Àkàrà is Àkàrà, not beans cake.
Mọ́ín-mọ́ín is Mọ́ín-mọ́ín, not bean pudding.
Òjòjọ́ is Òjòjọ́, not water yam fritters or water yam cakes.
Gbẹ̀gìrì is Gbẹ̀gìrì, not bean purée soup.
Ẹ̀bà is Ẹ̀bà, not cassava flour dough.
Àmàlà is Àmàlà, not dark yam dough or yam flour swallow.
I am of the opinion that changing our Yorùbá food names to English will make them lose their originality.
Firstly he is a Sub Lieutenant and secondly if you understand how the military operates you will know that Wike was supposed to go through h8s commanding officer and not shout at or abuse him for carrying out his orders. If its a military zone then Wike has no jurisdiction there
The problem you will have is that many people will not read to comprehend the message but rather try to tackle this your post out of sentiment and political affiliation. Most Nigerians don't have knowledge of basic economics and they don't even try to hide their ignorance.
Dear @PeterObi,
You are back again with your very ignorant and highly misleading posturing to entertain your base.
I can see that Nigeria's absence in IMF's top 5 fastest growing economies in Africa is your new meal. I am here however to help you understand the dynamics around growth rate rankings.
First, it's not easy to find economies with large GDP base being among the top fastest growing economies in the world year in year out. The US, UK, Japan, Germany, and even China now are prime examples. It doesn’t make them lesser economic giants or prosperous.
Now let's look at Nigeria. Nigeria's GDP is $285 billion. Nigeria's conservative GDP growth rate for 2025 is around 4% (judging by Q1 and Q2 rates so far), that's a $11.4 billion expansion. Mind you, this is an economy just coming out from a major economic upheaval that turned our monetary landscape upside down.
I have compiled the numbers behind the so-called growth rates that you are gleefully celebrating and making it seem as if these countries did something extraordinary that Nigeria didn't do. Take a look at their GDP sizes and what the actual expansion in GDP that you are mocking Nigeria for:
1. South Sudan - ($4.65 billion; 24.3% means economy expanded by $1.13 billion, an outlier fueled by resumption of oil production in the country thanks to return to some level of political stability)
2. Guinea - ($25.3 billion; 7.2% means economy expanded by $1.82 billion)
3. Ethiopia - ($142 billion; 7.2% means economy expanded by $10.2 billion)
4. Rwanda - ($14.25 billion; 7.1% means economy expanded by $1.01 billion)
5. Benin - $21.49 billion; 7% means economy expanded by $1.5 billion).
6. Niger - ($19.87 billion; 6.6% means economy expanded by $1.31 billion)
7. Uganda - ($56.23 billion; 6.4% means economy expanded by $3.6 billion)
8. Cote d'Ivoire - ($87.1 billion; 6.4% means economy expanded by $5.7 billion)
9. The Gambia - ($2.35 billion; 6.0% means economy expanded by $141 million).
10. Senegal - ($32.8 billion; 6% means economy expanded by $1.97 billion)
Note that none of the top 5 biggest economies in Africa (South Africa, Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria and Morroco) are among the top 10 fastest growing economies. Does it mean even your favourite Egypt is not doing anything good in their economy?
Also, among all the countries in Africa, in terms of actual GDP expansion in dollar terms, none of them except Egypt did better than Nigeria. Let me give you this data to go and verify:
Nigeria's GDP is projected to expand in 2025 by 4%, which is $11.4 billion
South Africa's GDP will expand by just 1.1%, which is $4.41 billion
Algeria's GDP growth rate is 2.7% or $7.27 billion expansion.
Morocco's GDP growth rate is 3.8%, which translates to $6.1 billion expansion.
Egypt's GDP is expected to add around $14.9 billion and is the only country in Africa that records better dollar expansion than Nigeria.
Oga Peter, tone down on the negativity. It can't make you President.
President Bola Tinubu has done a very remarkable job to steady our economic ship and navigate it to calm waters. The fact that you can't point to any substantial talking point to tackle the President or profer any clear alternative to policies being undertaken by the President shows you're simply clinging on a straw.
Although I acknowledge the fact that you need to feed your mob with regular contents but in doing so, please calm down and do basic economic analysis. You're trying to be a President of huge economy and not an Afor market in Nkitaku where your audience are mostly market women.
If those local council can perform such then Mosan-Okunola should be audited because the outgoing chairman repaired only the road leading g to her mother's house in 8 years
Today, I commissioned several projects in Agboyi-Ketu and Bariga LCDAs, facilitated by Hon. Dele Osinowo and Hon. Kolade Alabi.
In Agboyi-Ketu, we opened the Otunba Bushura Alebiosu Multipurpose Building, a new primary school, an ICT Hub, the Oba Taiwo Adesegun Lamina Sports Centre, and four newly completed roads.
In Bariga, I also commissioned 21 roads, three primary schools, five primary health centres, a fire station, and a legislative chamber. These projects are investments in our people and the future of our communities.
I am proud of the leadership at both councils and commend them for delivering on their promises to residents. We will continue to support all 57 local councils as they serve their people with autonomy and responsibility.
To the residents of Agboyi-Ketu, Bariga, and Lagos at large, these facilities belong to you. Let’s protect them, maintain them, and ensure they remain vibrant for years to come.
Together, we will keep building a Lagos that works for all.
If you are not Yoruba, you won't understand the power that this woman caries. You'll think she is making an empty boast. There are few countries in Africa where raw power is still in operation. Yorubaland is one. Even the young man can sense the power around her. YORUBA agbara wa
Bashir firstly I believe its the state that needs to structure it and not federal and secondly does the almajiri system cater enough for the educational needs of the children to allow them compete with those in formal education sector?
The Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Saidu, is absolutely correct that Almajiri children should not be classified as out-of-school children, as the Almajiri is a system of Islamic education. However, I believe the best way to address this is by integrating the Almajiri education system into our national educational framework or ensuring it is officially recognized by the system.
Once this is achieved, the northern states could become those with the lowest numbers of out-of-school children, as it is rare to find a child in the north who does not attend either formal or Islamic school.
Almajiri children are visible on the streets primarily because the current system does not adequately provide for their needs. If Almajiri schools were given treatment in terms of support and structure similar to that of boarding schools, the narrative would change entirely.
Can you see the colonial mentality from a former president? It's only what a foreigner tells you that you will believe whan all you need do is go there personally to confirm what you've been told. This is quite unfortunate.
Lol.. A foreign white owned colonial oil company like shell told a black president that his country refinery cannot work and the black president believed them.👽
May God have mercy upon us all.
Let me tell you my own story about ENDSARS...
See I won't tell you to protest or not and I can still remember ENDSARS very well.
But if you must do so, use your head and know exactly what you are fighting for.
If you think I am a coward, go and ask people about the area I was raised in Lagos, Empire in Surulere, close to Ojulegba, Mushin, Yaba and Idi-Oro.
You see, those places I have mentioned are the headquarters of area boys in Lagos...
The name "area boys" was made popular by Baba Fela in my street at Empire, where he used to play at Ludo Motel (the hotel is still there).
So, when it comes to the good, bad and ugly about governance I have seen it all...
But there are several ways of making the government listen to you (I once made Gbajabiamila) listen to me just through strategic positioning on social media...
And that single move changed so many things in my area...
What is your contribution to humanity first in your little corner?
For me, I see protest as a weapon of distraction from the government, if you don't believe go and read the history of how protests started in the world.
If there are other ways to make Nigeria better I will gladly be one of the people that will advocate for it...
Because I have been sacrificing for this country for more than 20 years in my little way (like I almost died during Ebola).
Again, I am not saying don't protest, it is your civic duty but don't be stupid to vandalise government property (I pay tax and part of my money is used to build that infrastructure)...
Especially someone people that will go far to still from other people's business and vandalise people's property.
Don't do that please, the country is hard on all of us and you should not compound people's problems by destroying their property when you go out to protest.
I am already angry with the way I am tying this message now because we all deserve better and I believe Nigeria can be among the top 5 greatest countries in the world.
But we have a plague with this leadership problem and until we solve it, it is well with us all.
Please be responsible when you protest and stay safe.
God bless Nigeria.
P.S.: as the country is hard, I have decided to make my copywriting class free to the public, you ca find the introductory class in the link in my bio (it is worth $49) but that is my way of solving the problem we both are facing.
Send me a dm to also get copies of the book for your further learning.
Competing in constune, sports, etc is healthy and should be encouraged but not the derogatory statement against the regions and its people we keep seeing on this app it's very worrisome.
A Bill for an Act to Change the Name of Nigeria to;
1.Federal Republic of SONGHAI.
(parts of Nigeria was once part of the Songhai empire)
2.United African Republic.
3.Federal Republic of AZIKENIA
(Coined from Azikiwe, the most passionate Nigerian leader ever)
One of the advantage of changing our name is to tell China that Nigeria has died and we can’t pay them their money the Late Nigeria borrowed.
These locally fabricated rifles, capable of firing AK47 ammunition, were made by one Pam Chung, m, of Plateau State. They were recovered from him and 2 others, who are currently in our custody for further investigations.
Paying attention to what? If other rep members and senators are using their constituency allowance to build infrastructures in their constituencies and naming it after themselves rather than keeping it in their various pockets, won't the country be better for it?
I want to thank Tracka for the incredible work they’re doing, and i’m hoping that Lagosians are paying attention.
Last week, the FIJ revealed that UNTH was making plans to pay N234.7 million to contractors to provide medical equipment to the newly launched Gbajabiamila Hospital in Lagos.

Recall that a few days before this revelation, the FIJ published a story exposing the payment of N10 million hotel bills for Tinubu’s daughter, via the office of the VP.

As with most things in Lagos, the more you look the less you see.
Intent often determines the success of any intervention. If the intent is to hoodwink for publicity or to justify looted funds, the interventions will be unsustainable and these shameless politicians would already have achieved their aim to the long term detriment of the people.
They put their names on projects they do not fund just to hoodwink the people for political gain. Too many lies and propaganda, very little substance or progress.
Tokenism and opportunism is all they’re about. Shame!!
