If I learned a new language and native speakers told me "hey there's context behind that term you don't know and you shouldn't say it" I would just not use that term
I just want to point out… the amount of money the U.S. has spent on war in the last 2.5 months is roughly the same cost that Bernie Sanders proposed for universal college. So the real question is never ‘can we afford it’… it’s what we choose to prioritize.
Y’all get what this is, right? Just by touching you with these gloves, cops can literally force your body to involuntarily spasm in a way that looks enough like “resisting arrest” on a bodycam video to justify beating your brains out & shooting you dead consequence-free
Im ngl if black people tell you something is racist and some are telling you no its not, you need to actually make an effort to educate yourself on why people are saying yes instead of immediately siding with the black people saying they dont care
@snailm0der@Shortcakeberrys Zooble's VA, Ashley Nichols, calls themselves a woman/girl and doesn't present masc or androgynous yet is still nonetheless nonbinary, why? Bc they said so. Coming up with rules on who is or isn’t trans based on something as arbitrary as dysphoria is just repackaged transphobia
while it is noticeable how all the 3 main girl characters have the same body-type, there isn't enough Gameoverse content to warrant this much backlash. Other indie pilots where most of the characters are slim/conventionally attractive didn't get this reaction, so it seems odd
@MasterofFish122 Even though you cant create art in the absence of culture or politics or history or aesthetic bias- a lot of ppl won’t care about cultural criticism for a piece of art bc the thing you value (diversifying body-types in media) is not what they came for. Your goals are misaligned
@Lecanoscoptical@43Aagamer@CapyvaraRoxa@DingusTheStrix@Sillysquishy05 And if we're gonna count npcs like Kit's mom in this (who don't even have dialogue), then we may as well include the npcs from Flappers' world too, both w/ different body-types. They're likely one-off characters, but who's to say they won't reappear in a Flappers flashback
@wonabear If most viewers, the investors of indie ani don't, then I wonder if Glitch would still go through w/ making more episodes purely for the love of the game. That business model wouldn't make a lot of sense unless there's buttloads of money to throw around on top of 2 greenlit shows
@wonabear Seems more efficient to combine a pilot & 1st episode though, bc if ppl liked a pitch (which is already 1/8 of the final product for Glitch shows) then they're more likely to support/fund the rest of the show. Sensible for an indie studio but keyword's IF viewers like the pitch
@moomarz @RetroReina If the end result is a bad first episode, then it's arguably less abt the business model being too restricting and more so an indie project lead or indie studio needing to hire more skilled *writers* who are able to deliver better intro episodes within their established model
@moomarz @RetroReina Both are legitimate models
Pilot being ep1 means there's less questions for the studio. If ppl liked ep1, which is already 1/8 of the final product, they'll probably support the rest. They're assessing cost/risk/payout if ep1 is well-received, it's especially efficient for indie
Your mother is problematic. Your father is problematic. Your son is problematic. Your aunt is problematic. The cashier at the local Tesco is problematic. You've probably bought a cookie from a bakery made by hands that have done unspeakable things. Every chocolate bar you've ever eaten has probably killed a 7 year old child slave in Cameroon. The gas that drives your car is fueled by engines of death. Every person who has ever smiled at you in the streets has committed some act that if you knew about it, would make you profoundly dislike them.
We have all been bad, small, petty, unlikeable, cruel, downright mean. Authors are not special "problematic" beings, they're just more public. Part of being an adult is recognizing that without mercy for our fellow human beings, and ourselves, we'd all be condemned to death. Reading fiction should help us understand that we're all irreparably tainted with evil, every system is corrupted, every line is broken.
And like, that's okay. That's what it means to be alive.
@plausivel4 That's fair. We don’t really know how Goose feels about any of this or how she wants her feelings about it to be understood publicly yet, i do think she should address it since she was in the chat laughing along that stream. That being said, Glitch is more than just these three
@OrgaItsukadgoat@Cherryiscoolbro 7 yrs ago, who's to say she didn't change? This was less abt them being problematic now, & more abt shifting a convo from "it was a misunderstanding, not actually racist" to something more reflective of the reality that, at the time, they simply found certain racist stuff funny
