“Sorry, 22 year-old college grad, I know you wanted affordable housing.
Unfortunately our newly built condo tower is allocated for use by ‘low income LGBTQ seniors’ only.
Have a great day.”
Half the country thinks we spend 80% of our tax money on the military when its reality 14%. You can't square that in debate or have a conversation when people are that wrong.
Every day you see these stories. The slaughter is endless. All the libs lose their minds if an illegal dies in ICE custody but have nothing to say about the Americans being killed by illegals every day.
@Jacket_Spangler@firebornnn@Faj1791 Nope, I believe a new standard was set by you clowns. The person accusing Kavanagh was a democrat therefore, I could care less about her opinion.
Rent control is a spectacularly bad and counterproductive economic policy, so I get why people want to focus on that aspect of it, but it’s also just straightforwardly, transparently, unbelievably unfair and illegitimate.
You have all these people acting in a market to buy and sell property and then one day the public votes to take a bunch of that value for themselves. And then they justify this with limp, pathetic rejoinders like, “well, there’s always risk in business! You should’ve accounted for the fact that we might just steal it from you.”
It would be one thing if the government stepped in and took your property with compensation, but with rent control we basically just say, “these people aren’t me and so it’s fine to steal from them.”
You never need to take lectures on what is and is not “American“ from the 75% of the population that support this policy.
This is why SCOTUS needs to (properly) interpret rent control as a taking without just compensation, and therefore unconstitutional under the 5th amendment
Some regulations on prices are of course valid, but not as a means of holding landlords permanently underwater
I'm told no official withdrawal notice has been received from Graham Platner.
He needs to formally withdraw to the Maine elections office in writing with a signature.
Deadline is 5pm on Monday, July 13th.
