Building an app around your business starts with defining orders, products, tasks, and customers. Przemek shows how to put this into practice with Nuxt and Directus.
Let the business shape the app before the tools do.

AI agents made building internal apps fast. Getting them safe access to live production data is still slow, manual, and scattered across every system.

The @ProductHunt daily email is looking very nice today!

Thank you for all the support and interest yesterday, we’re still over there answering your questions about Monospace 🥳

In honor of the launch day we have today at @directus, here are some historical facts about the word "LAUNCH" 🚀

The Middle English launchen (around 1300s) meant things like “to rush,” “leap,” or “set suddenly in motion.”
It came from Old French lancher/lancier, meaning “to fling, hurl, or throw.”

And that leads to a lance. The French word ultimately comes from Late Latin lanceare, “to wield a lance,” derived from lancea, a light spear. So launch and lance are relatives.

Around the 1400s, “launching” a ship meant putting it into the water.

Then it became metaphorical. By around 1600, launch was being generalized to mean starting or setting something in motion (business, career, product).

Rockets are surprisingly recent. The use of launch for the liftoff of missiles and spacecraft dates only to around 1935, while launch pad appears around 1960.

There’s a linguistic curveball: a launch, meaning a type of boat, appears to have a different origin from the verb to launch. That noun entered English in the late 1600s through Portuguese lancha. The spelling seems to have been influenced by the already-existing English verb launch.

v12.2 is out!

This release replaces our long-standing TinyMCE editor with Tiptap, giving Studio a more modern foundation that we'll continue building on across Directus and Monospace.

It also tightens default permissions, adds sensible limits for imports and image transforms, and includes a number of reliability improvements that make production deployments a little safer by default.

FINALLY managed to snag IMAX tickets for this one

[Directus 🐰 @directus]

- The log only sees what goes through Directus. Write straight to the database and it's invisible (definitely don't do that)

That's why "every action is logged" sits on https://t.co/Yk8JbBqSIw next to the MCP section instead of three clicks deep in the docs.

It's probably the least glamorous thing in Directus. But it's quickly becoming the most important if you want to give an agent write access without holding your breath.

[Directus 🐰 @directus]

Let's talk about logs 🪵

Nobody has ever bought a CMS because of the activity log. It's the line you scroll past on the pricing page. Table stakes, as they say.

But when you hand an agent write access to production, it quickly becomes the only feature you care about.

[Directus 🐰 @directus]

- Give it its own user and role. Not your admin token. It shows up in the log as itself, with permissions you scoped, and you can see exactly which collections it touched.
