@chongdashu Spriterrific looks genuinely awesome! Have you considered selling it separately as a standalone tool? I’d love to use it, but $449 for the full Vibe Game Dev package is difficult to justify when I’m primarily interested in the sprite tool.
This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen. (1/2)
🔴 So, a lot of people think that Hideo Miyazaki hates AI and that he said this about generative AI:
“Whoever creates this stuff has no idea what pain is whatsoever. I am utterly disgusted… I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself.”
This is NOT true!
I mean, Miyazaki did say that sentence. But he wasn’t referring to “AI in general,” and definitely not to “generative AI” (because when he said that, back in 2016, DALL·E 2 was still six years away... generative AI didn’t even exist yet!).
What really made him say that famous quote was a presentation shown to him by the folks at Studio Dwango. It was a kind of animation generated by an AI, controlling a deformed humanoid figure, like a boneless creature, that crawled across the floor in a grotesque way. The idea was to show how AI could generate movement not based on traditional human animation but on learned patterns.
Miyazaki’s reaction was intense. He said something along the lines of one of his friends having a disability that prevents him from moving his arms, and that seeing those kinds of movements was deeply offensive to him. That’s when he dropped his now-famous line.
So, he wasn’t talking about all AI, and definitely not about generative AI as we know it nowadays. He was reacting to a very specific case that he found in poor taste because it reminded him of his disabled friend.
If Miyazaki ever comments on generative AI directly, then we’ll know where he stands. But for now, saying he hates it (which, hey, maybe he does, but we don’t actually know) is just jumping the gun.
What if Studio Ghibli directed Lord of the Rings?
I spent $250 in Kling credits and 9 hours re-editing the Fellowship trailer to bring that vision to life—and I’ll show you exactly how I did it 👇🏼
@nhoeskape Thanks so much for breaking this down for me! Your explanation really helps me understand how Midjourney interprets prompts. If you ever have other tips you'd be willing to share, I'd greatly appreciate it!
@nhoeskape Hey, this is really impressive work! If you don't mind sharing, I'd love to see the prompt you used to achieve this result. I'm trying to better understand Midjourney prompting myself.
Game Freak was experimenting with a much more dynamic in-battle camera for X/Y. It looks so good!
Here's a look, along a side-to-side comparison with the standard camera.
Kinda disappointing that the current games still haven't achieved this more than 10 years later.
