A publication of Essays, Screeds, & Manifestos on Disability, by Disabled Writers, for Everyone. Editors: @krgpryal and @kelly_j_baker. Guidelines on website.
We are very sad to say that DISABILITY ACTS is closing its doors. As a fully volunteer-run magazine, we worked as long as we could to share the voices of disabled writers. 1/
We’re asking readers to not engage in any @nytimes platforms tomorrow and stand with us on the digital picket line! Read local news. Listen to public radio. Make something from a cookbook. Break your Wordle streak.
Ok publishing. We need to have another talk about albinism and your obsession with turning us into fantasy creatures.
ONCE AGAIN I started a book only to discover the author has used albinism, blindness, and disability as a fantasy aesthetic, all in a matter of pages. 1/6 🧵
An update: We have donated the $55 in support that we received while we were open to Disability Visibility LLC @DisVisibility.
It's an incredible organization, run by the incredible @SFdirewolf. We love Alice.

The contributions we collected (about $50) will be donated to a disability organization. We haven't selected it yet (since we just made this decision yesterday) but when we do, we will post the donation here for complete transparency. 3/
