Benefit changes have made increasing demands on disabled people, it is a ''survival of the fittest’ regime... disabled people without knowledge, financial and social resources are less able to weather the protracted and difficult process from application to award'
Wowsers to former @DisabilitySCDR researcher Hazel McFarlane who has been recognised by the Shaw Trust as one of the 100 most influential disabled people. https://t.co/NV5JPJD0eI

Had DMs from people who didn’t know about @Transgendertrd and @JDisSoc ‘s assosiation with them.
My view: If disabilty studies is all about inclusion, this includes everyone- every social class, race, sexuality, and gender identity.
There’s no place for transphobia in this field.
In light of the #EnoughIsEnough Transgender Trend campaign, I am no longer reviewing ‘Crippled: the demonization of disabled people under austerity’ for Disability and Society. I am a working class, LGBT, disabled woman and proud. No academic opportunity can change that. (1/2)
The SCDR supports trans-inclusive research and researchers in disability studies. We must challenge all forms of oppression and foster spaces that engage meaningfully with the intersections of trans and disabled experiences.
I literally spoke to the then Health Sec in person to tell her not to close the ward, put it in writing to her and invited her to the constituency to meet with parents affected to see why it should stay open. But I’m sure the truth won’t stop you spreading this tired Labour line.
UK Govt abandons strategy aimed at improving disabled people's lives. Unfortunately they seem to have replaced it with one aimed at destroying our lives @InclusionScot Scrapped! Ministers ‘secretly ditch government’s disability strategy’ https://t.co/VdW2fWHRRE via @johnpringdns
And another one! Now 5 (yes FIVE) excellent internship opportunities for disabled people. We'd be v grateful for retweets and help to spread the word, to ensure disabled people don't miss these opportunities. Thanks! @GDA__online@GCIL_Support@SDSScot@DAScotland@ALLIANCEScot https://t.co/jcg5o0oTEO
The 1842 Children's Employment Report is a pop source for #MiningHistory, but it's also a great (&rarely used) document for #disabilityhistory.
HAVE A LOOK! There's lots of extracts from the report at the fab #Durham Mining Museum. Like this one (No 303)

The intersection of age and impairment is a critical field still poorly understood or recognised. Who would value an https://t.co/6aDUCo3rVH convention on the rights of older people? We would.
