economic sanctions. expel the ambassador. immediate end to two-way arms transfers. sign on to South Africa's ICJ genocide case. pick an action, @albomp, anything *at all* besides rhetorical hand-wringing, to signal some resolve
Julian Assange has no legal obligation to protect American intelligence information.
He is not an American, does not reside in America, did not publish while in America — he has not signed any non-disclosure agreement, nor has he given an oath of allegiance to America.
As a non-American, he has no obligation to keep secrets for America.
But still, Australia won’t demand his immediate release. Fine, normal.

The UK High Court’s announcement to delay their decision on Julian Assange's right to appeal his extradition has given Julian a lifeline. But the pressure must continue. The US must stop its pursuit of Julian and drop the charges and extradition. #FreeAssangeNOW#auspol#politas
Last night, the UK High Court left Julian #Assange in a legal limbo that can only end by the US government dropping its prosecution of the WikiLeaks founder and #MEAAmedia member. https://t.co/rFfkfqKwhq #PressFreedom

Stella Assange speaking outside court today: “The courts recognise that Julian Assange is exposed to a flagrant denial of his freedom of expression rights, that he is being discriminated against on the basis of his nationality and that he remains exposed to the death penalty”

"The courts recognize that Julian [#Assange] is exposed to a flagrant denial of his freedom of expression rights; that he is being discriminated against on the basis of his nationality as an Australian; and that he remains exposed to the death penalty. And yet what the courts have done has been to invite a political intervention from the U.S. to send a letter saying it's all okay."

BREAKING: Julian Assange may still be extradited to the US in three weeks if US Gov provides "assurances" - previously deemed by Amnesty as "inherently unreliable" - including that he will not be prejudiced at trial by reason of his nationality and not receive the death penalty
A press conference will be convened at Doughty Street Chambers immediately, press are invited to attend
54 Doughty Street, London WC1N 2LS
While it is good that Julian will not be sent to a US supermax gulag tomorrow, what this means is that his incarceration under inhuman solitary confinement conditions will continue. The murder of his body & soul will continue to tonight, tomorrow, ad infinitum.
The court has given US Gov 3 weeks to give satisfactory assurances: That Mr. Assange is permitted to rely on the First Amendment to the US constitution; not prejudiced at trial by reason of his nationality; and that the death penalty is not imposed #FreeAssange
fyi - this was US private intelligence firm Stratfor's advice on how to destroy WikiLeaks and Julian Assange in 2012: "Pile on. Move him from country to country to face various charges for the next 25 years." https://t.co/qf5Qi9565O
BREAKING - Julian Assange’s appeal has been allowed in part with the case adjourned to 20 May - if ever you thought “should I call my MP or demand my government take action?” then act now.
