New mother Nareman’s experience is similar to thousands more women in #Gaza today, who due to the conflict face a life and death battle to bring new life into the world.

But after being displaced, 9-month-pregnant Nareman, suffering strong labour pain, was taken from her tent in a temporary camp by horse-drawn carriage to a hospital to give birth to her daughter, before returning to her makeshift home straight after.

An overstretched health system has not yet been able to provide routine vaccinations to her daughter, and Nareman’s three other children are also unwell.

In Gaza, 50,000 pregnant women face unprecedented challenges. On average, 183 births take place every day. 130 prematurely born babies depend on incubators, but most incubators are located in northern Gaza, which has become a medical disaster zone with no fully functioning hospitals.

The only way to save Gaza’s mothers and their newborns is through the urgent provision of humanitarian access, and an immediate, lasting #CeasefireNOW.
