KID

KID is a creative makerspace where kids build skills to invent the future.

Had a blast at the KID Museum expo today! Showcased some of the great things we got to do in my classroom thanks to @KIDMuseumMD @APSVirginia

Captain Wirth trading her badge for a scorecard — just for the day.

@mcfrs honored to have this powerhouse judging the ⁦@KIDMuseumMD⁩ Innovation Expo STEM competition today.

From the judges: These kids have talent! This is going to be very difficult…

[Julie Yang @JulieYangMoCo]

Some of my favorite events in the last few days: KID Museum Invent the Future Expo, MVMA Scholarship ceremony and the @Rockville411 Public Safety Award. It is pretty awesome to work together for a better MoCo! #MoCoforward

[USPTO @uspto]

We loved meeting with more than 200 middle school students during the Invent the Future Expo at @KIDMuseumMD. Over the past year, the student inventors researched, prototyped and developed new skills that they showed off during the expo.

The challenge of making cardboard connections before we begin our cardboard sculptures. There were some frustrations, successes, and "Oh, why didn't I think of that" moments. Gotta practice before we dive in! @KIDMuseumMD @KedcARTS @KEDCGrants @DrJWEvansJr @KingWendy_m

OMG, a digital art museum walk sounds like such a cool way to use @scratch in the classroom! Love it!

[PatriciaBryantWeiner @BryantWeiner]

Learning about @scratch with @KIDMuseumMD. I made Dusty the Superdog! This would be fun to include in my Visual Art class with all the drawing and editing features. Maybe an art museum walk with my sprite 🤔😃 @KEDCGrants @KedcARTS @DrJWEvansJr @KingWendy_m

[KID @discover_KID]

This is such a cute gif!

[Robin Rumsey @RobinRumsey1]

This week in our @KIDMuseumMD session we explored student coding skills with Scratch. I had to use my phone for the meeting so I practiced with the OctoStudio app. I made a gif in no time flat, kids will do even better with this!
Inspiring thinking!!!

It's so fun to see how you all plan to use these maker skills with your students!

[Sheina Kegley @SheinaKegley81]

@KIDMuseumMD led a great on coding with https://t.co/Jp1jMHvQBD today. Coding has become a life skill and this resource could soft launch coding with students! @KEDC_HERO @KEDCGrants I have a lot to learn about coding, too.

[Amanda Creekmore @AmandaCree307]

I enjoyed learning how to use Scratch. My 3rd graders will love this program. It will help their creativity to creat characters they can write about.
@KyCharge @KEDCGrants @KIDMuseumMD

[Kendra Doolin @Kendra_Doolin5]

Another awesome session today with @KIDMuseumMD learning how to use @scratch in our classrooms! So fun and engaging! Thanks, @KEDCGrants! @KEDC_HERO

[Taylor. @TaylorP34]

Enjoyed our session with @KIDMuseumMD yesterday. I’ve used coding some with my students this year, but have never heard of Scratch. I can’t wait to try it out!!!! @KEDC_HERO @KEDCGrants

[Stefanie Sizemore @stefsizemore03]

I enjoyed learning more about Scratch coding with @KIDMuseumMD. This is a great way to get students engaged and using technology! @KEDCGrants @KyCharge

[KID @discover_KID]

Check out this creativity! Reteaching is a great way to bring #makerlearning into the curriculum. Making choices about what materials to use or which facial expressions to draw shows so much critical thinking. Awesome!!

[Julie Lewis @MrsLewisKY]

@KIDMuseumMD: My 4th grade scientists & 5th grade historians participated in a maker’s workshop. No guidelines other than they had to reteach what they’d learned in NTI. This was our first week back in person! ❄️ @DrJWEvansJr @KingWendy_m @KEDC_HERO @KEDCGrants

[KID @discover_KID]

This is AMAZING!! We're so grateful to see the maker mindset spreading. And look at that smile -- there's nothing like the pride of holding something you've made with your own two hands! Wow! Thanks, @CookseyArtClass & @byersartclass 🧡

[Heather Cooksey @CookseyArtClass]

Observing @KedcARTS teacher leader @byersartclass implementing safer cutting tools and 3D building techniques we learned about from an amazing session with @KIDMuseumMD. We want students to develop the “Mind of a Maker”! #ArtMatters
@KEDCGrants

[KID @discover_KID]

We've got our fingers crossed, too! Incorporating some fun, hands-on #makerlearning is a great way to help students re-engage after time away from the classroom. Even better: it helps students *stay* engaged. Thanks for supporting innovations in education, @KEDCGrants!

[Julie Lewis @MrsLewisKY]

Praying for in person instruction soon 🤞 & planning for an idea learned by @KIDMuseumMD ! Stay tuned! @KEDC_HERO @KEDC_HERO @KingWendy_m @DrJWEvansJr

[KID @discover_KID]

@smithmindys @KEDCGrants @KEDC_HERO We can't wait to see what they make, either!

[KID @discover_KID]

@JaneCallihan @KEDCGrants What a cute video!
