@SithaleKgaogelo When the reserve bank increases/decreases the repo rate, the commercial banks in turn increase/decrease their rate (i.e. prime lending rate).

@SithaleKgaogelo The SA reserve bank lends money to commercial banks(i.e. Standard Bank, ABSA etc. ) at the repo rate(8.00%). These banks in turn set higher interest rates than what they borrowed from the reserve bank.
