One of the strangest plants found in the Dishman Hills is the Pine drop. This plant has no chlorophyll to turn sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water into the food it needs to grow. Instead it takes or steals what it needs from the web of roots around it. #learnathome #dishmanhills

The trails still have patchy snow and ice in the Hills. Even so, these nearby trails have great views and varied terrain.

The Rocks of Sharon are one of the oldest parts of the Dishman Hills. The jagged peaks were formed 1.5 billion years ago. That means they are about 3 times as old as Mount Everest. We are so happy to be able to protect such an important part of natural history. #dishmanhills

In 1994 the DHNAA buys 170 acres from Barbara Olsen starting the Iller Creek natural area. Now it is a popular hiking and climbing area.
