BREAKING: Former Mastodon guitarist and vocalist Brent Hinds has died at 51 following a motorcycle accident in Atlanta on August 20, according to Atlanta News First.

Police reported that Hinds was riding his Harley Davidson when a BMW SUV failed to yield while making a turn. The Fulton County medical examiner’s office confirmed his death.

Hinds co-founded Mastodon in 2000, helping shape some of the most acclaimed metal albums of the 21st century, including Leviathan, Blood Mountain, and Crack the Skye. After 25 years with the band, Mastodon announced his departure in March 2025.
