No way on earth is inflation anywhere near 3%, at the supermarkets many items are up 50% in 2 year and still rising, we know Energy and Fuel are through the roof, so what is coming down to to get it 3% overall?
Hi Bridget,
Let me help you out with this one. The reason people are struggling with the cost of living is inflation - overwhelmingly driven by monetary and fiscal policy, therefore the state. Yes, it is your fault.
The problem with the minimum wage is that:
1. It makes jobs illegal below an arbitrarily chosen wage
2. It push up the cost of goods and services
3. It turns marginally viable businesses into unviable ones
The free market is the greatest system we have ever discovered for creating wealth and prosperity, yet economically illiterate MPs repeatedly interfere with it, writing policies for virtue rather than outcomes - then act surprised when the costs are passed on to workers, consumers and businesses.
There is an easy way to prove this. Why not set the minimum wage at £15, or £20? When you realise you can't give a strong economic reason, it makes the whole minimum wage a silly idea.
Let the market decide what the cost of items should be and what people are willing to work for.
@andyburnham Great, thanks for prioritising something that the average family can do probably once or twice a year, if we are lucky in this day and age.
Don’t worry about tackling real issues that people have to deal with on a weekly basis, like filling up their car so they can go to work
Norway is firing up North Sea oil and gas fields and handing out new licences. The UK government is banning new ones in the same sea - then paying £billions to Norway so they can drill it and import to us instead.
The Labour government’s net zero strategy: we don’t extract it, we just import it from the same sea at enormous expense and call it virtue. 🤡
british drivers have been dealt the worst hand
early 2000s, the government told everyone to buy diesel. lower co2, lower road tax, better for the planet
then diesel became the villain. older diesels now pay a daily charge just to drive into city centres
then they announced a ban on new petrol and diesel cars from 2030
so get electric. no road tax, cheap to run. except evs have paid road tax since 2025, pay per mile is coming on top from 2028, and our electricity is some of the most expensive in europe
every time people did what they were told, the rules changed. what a terrible hand to be dealt
I love a pint at the footy as much as the next man but if you want to do something decent sort fuel prices out @andyburnham - this is getting ridiculous!
Nobody is doing anything about the cost of living.
Feel like all these price shifts in the past 5 or so years are going completely unchecked. Bit by bit everything we need to live has quadrupled in price. Bills have quadrupled. Insurance goes up every year. Mortgage rates are never returning to what they once were.
Yet people are arguing about boats of 40 people landing.
Lets ask them if they can bring some rice over.
“Sir” Jacob Fucking Reece Mogg, (the double barrelled arch cunt), just told us that over the next few years we may have to go to war, that some of us may die, and that this is “doing your DUTY.”
Duty for who?
He has six children. Five sons. One of them already walked the Eton corridor his father walked.
Do any of them get the same speech? Or is “duty” something he hands down to other people’s kids while his own stay officer class, well back from the front line, or parked in Whitehall pointing at maps?
A few years ago I still thought Churchill was the last word in British backbone. WhenI still a member of the Conservative Party, around the same time I still thought Rees-Mogg was one of the good ones.
The version of me that believe there was actually a Left and Right problem is gone, replaced by a better version who sees it clearly as an Us and Them problem.
Them, the same class that talked working men into the trenches in 1914 and again in 1939 is back on the soapbox, wrapping other people’s blood in the Union flag.
All of it, in the end, for the same old project: Zionists, bankers, globalists, and the heirs of the Bolsheviks who never send their own kids, and just manufacture new ways for ours to die.
Ukraine is not the Falklands (the Falklands were not even the Falklands that we were rabble roused into). It is not a threat to British soil. It is a meat grinder sold as a principle. A million white Christian men can vanish into it and the people giving the lectures still get home in time for black-tie dinner, with the Conservative friends of Israel.
So here’s the only point that matters, Jacob:
Send yours first.
Not a speech. Not a Latin quote. Not a lecture about King and country from a man whose King is more interested in the “wisdom of Islam” than in the people who actually built this great nation.
You want a war for Israel, for NATO, for Brussels, for the Bolsheviks, os for whoever is writing the cheques this decade — put Peter, Thomas, Anselm, Alfred and Sixtus on the list before you put mine.
Fuck your duty Jacob. Send your own fucking kids.
@Jacob_Rees_Mogg
JULIAN ASSANGE: "The goal is to have an endless war, not a successful war."
War is a taxation based money laundering racket for the transnational security elite - it matters very little to them whether it's in Ukraine or Afghanistan, the goal is theft of public money.
Fuel Prices: 2008 vs 2026.
So tell me — is this really all down to Trump and global oil prices, or are fuel companies and the UK Government taking us for a ride too? 🤔
👇👇
Personal allowance has been frozen at £12,570 since 2021.
Unless any changes are made, it is set to stay there until 2031.
The 40% threshold has been frozen at £50,270 since 2022.
Had they both risen with inflation, as they are supposed to so, they would have been £17,470 and £70,370 respectively.
We will have had ten years of fiscal drag, ten years of clandestine tax rises.
Absolute nonsense. Net zero is costing the taxpayer an absolute fortune and it won’t make a blind bit of difference apart from lining the pockets of the corporations who receive government contracts - funded by us. It’s a gigantic virtue-scam at our expense.
Why is a Level 2 and 3 plumbing course free in the UK for an asylum seeker and some migrants, but not for me, who is English 🏴 and born here?
I am a 27-year-old British bloke who already has Level 1 plumbing and just wants to finish Levels 2 and 3 so I can work the trade and leave my Production Operative role for a real career.
Cost to me: £4,000–£6,000.
The same courses are free if you have refugee status here, free for an asylum seeker who has been here 6 months waiting on a decision, or refused and appealing for 6 months.
Also free immediately for several other statuses and if you are on a low income it seems.
Why is this country backwards? 🇬🇧
