@iwelsh@Bullseye_DM OAS for actually poor seniors is fine. But when they've already got $95k+ in other income (note, this is DOUBLE the median wage of working Canadians) they don't need OAS.
@Bullseye_DM@iwelsh Yeah, I'm in favour of clawing back OAS at a lower threshold. My initial comment was 2 separate points (OAS isn't a pension, overly high taxation leads to capital flight).
@Bullseye_DM@iwelsh It's saying that Canadians with earnings that would place them in the top percentile in Canada are in the US. Canada doesn't specifically keep track of whether they earned that and left, or left and earn that. But we know brain drain and capital flight to the US is real
@Bullseye_DM@iwelsh Quote from a Bank of Canada report: "Indeed, the cross-country differences in the distribution of
income suggest that at least 40 percent of Canadians whose ability would place them in the top
income percentile reside outside of Canada."

@xah_lee That's why I like 0xProto font. https://t.co/Qmta7AirVB
It has ligatures for a nice clean look but maintains space between the symbols so you know they're actually 2 symbols.

This article cites a bank of Canada study that 40% of Canada's top 1% earners have already left for the US. Raising taxes on the rich will increase this capital flight.
@FortySacks Canada won't survive anyway. There's only so long people will be able to delude themselves while our standard of living falls behind every other developed nation. Being better than India, Turkey or Nigeria isn't good enough.
@polloimperial@raysan5 Considering console APIs are all under NDA, it's too much of a PITA to support. Plus Raylib is all C99 code, Switch supports OpenGL, it's easy to port.
@Noahpinion@killerrabbit256 What? People definitely worked out in 2006 and were in better shape, on average. Drinking a ton is true but it was offset by the cigarettes and real cocaine. And yeah, it felt like having a normal job was good enough (tech hadn't exploded yet, social media didn't exist).
@TAG2335@Pellegringos@visegrad24 Lived there and never sat on that lawn? Vibe's a bit different now, gypsies and migrants selling junk, but some migrant sold me an ice cold mini bottle of wine was still pretty nice.
@honkinwaffle@LukasHozda Most people define it as "the AI wrote the code". I doubt anyone has issues with using AI like a browser or research assistant.
@wyatt_claypool Reminder, only 25% of Canadians are net payers of tax. The rest either don't work, receive more in benefits than they pay in taxes, or work for the government. So they literally don't care about the economy being shit.
