@AlexCTaliadoros How does she get it wrong so often and why do people continue to give her platforms to talk about DC politics?
Sure, support McDuffie ... but she couldn't be bothered to read the damn article?
@mattyglesias its amazing that DC finally has a mayoral candidate with all the urbanist policies you want (congestion pricing, upzoning, bus lanes, etc) and you're falling for the crime red herring that you've noted conservatives often use (and where the actual policy daylight is quite small)
@mattyglesias Don't you have a kid in DCPS? My kids (and their teachers) spend way too much time focused on CAPE testing. Testing that every other state has stopped doing because it was a dumpster fire.
@jon_m_rob@kristoncapps@JHWeissmann YIMBY policies as a whole are not central to his project (unlike JLG) - just look at his GGW questionaire responses, its less ambitious than JLG and quite frankly less than Bowser.
CMs shouldn't be cavorting with an obviously corrupt politician, regardless of the vote. This is inappropriate @CMWendellFelder. This sends the wrong message.
With only 30 percent of the vote, thanks to i83 and RCV, Ward 8 will likely get a non-corrupt CM next term.
Ward 7 freshman Council member Wendell Felder - who just took office himself in January representing Ward 7, stops by to congratulate Trayon White on his apparent re-election to the W8 seat. Felder voted in February to expel White for ethics violations. @wcp
@MayorBowser@kevinsheehanDC Maybe if the deal wasn't so terrible the Council would need less time to fix it. Next time, maybe the sports team should pay for their Stadium rather than DC paying the Sports team for showing up.
@tomsherwood@wcp Fair point (though I imagine it would require 60 votes in the senate). God that'd be awful.
Every day I am reminded how much better little things would be with statehood.
@beyonddc @MorbiusStripper I feel like Erin ran a similar style campaign and it just didn't stick in DC. Every election is different, maybe it'd resonate better now but I'm skeptical about the DC electorate.
The very fact of @EleanorNorton repeatedly telling reporters she's running and then staff overruling her, saying she isn't yet, makes it clear its time for her to retire. https://t.co/81tJgFR4nt
@maustermuhle Before she was senile, Norton successfully advocated for DC all the time. There are smaller things than statehood to be obtained for DC by being a congressional advocate. We need someone who can hold the torch for statehood and also speak to Members for DC.
Forget not running for election, she should step down such that she can be replaced in a special election during the June 2026 primary.
Its great that her staff do a good job, but its adding insult to injury for DC's only voice in Congress to be asleep at the wheel.
NEW w/ @cuneytdil: D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton's colleagues tell @Axios her decline has been evident.
"She's missing stuff," one House Dem told us.
Said another: "That's a staff-driven office now, just like you saw in the Senate with Feinstein." https://t.co/Z2jYcCZ1H3
@AlexKomaDC I personally have zero interest in a stadium at RFK, and I think @aeidinger tends to be smart on ballot initiatives, but an initiative just opposing a stadium would fail.
An initiatives that stops DC from paying for a stadium or giving the Commander a tax break - that'll pass.
@john102414 I am all for new homes - but are there cases of tenants not paying rent and then buying the building when it was foreclosed? Moreover, TOPA doesn't reduce what the owner gets, it just forces them to sell to the tenants if they can buy at market price.
Nothing like unelected President Elon working quickly to help America's neediest - pay day lenders, credit agencies, and mega banks. Maybe one day VP Trump will get to do something too.
