This is one of the most surprising and meaningful assignments I’ve ever given. Morale was running at an all-time low. I had my HS students write a certificate of achievement to themselves - For whatever they wanted. The results? #education#teachertwitter
This. I tell colleagues and parents this *all*the*time*. There are SO MANY amazing picture books that are current and accurately reflect the language and life our kiddos are actually living. And don’t get me started on the phenomenol artwork in this books 😍😍
We are in a golden age of picture books and no one knows it because everyone buys the books that were read to them as kids and the only new picture books getting media attention are celebrity books and so everyone buys the books read to them as kids.
Imagine if school librarians could work together to create a new cataloging system that worked for education and completely tossed Dewey in the garbage? And it was work that was supported and funded?
@L_D_Washington I still remember how it felt to finish a standardized test and have to then sit and do *nothing*- it was traumatic enough to my adhd brain that I can still feel those moments/feelings 20+ years later just by thinking about it. It hurts my heart that it hasn’t changed
