The Contrast in Parenting Choices
The pictures highlight two very different paths parents can take when faced with the darkest realities of their children’s actions.
On one side, you have the parents of #BrianLaundrie. Their choice was silence, secrecy, and ultimately protection of their son at the cost of justice for #GabbyPetito. Their actions—or lack thereof—added to the suffering of Gabby’s family, raising painful questions about complicity, morality, and what it means to be a parent when your child commits harm.
On the other side is #TylerRobinson’s father, who made the incredibly difficult choice to stand on the side of truth and accountability, even when it meant turning in his own son. He understood that love does not mean shielding wrongdoing, especially when a life has been taken. Real love sometimes requires the hardest decisions—choosing justice, even if it breaks your heart.
This contrast shows the essence of parenting:
Do you enable and protect your child’s harmful actions at the expense of others?
Or do you guide them toward accountability, teaching that actions have consequences, no matter how painful?
In the end, true parenting isn’t about covering up; it’s about raising a person who understands responsibility, even if you have to enforce it yourself.
