Listening to @pahlkadot taking about her new book about lessons learned from @codeforamerica and the US Digital Service. “People think the problem with government is that the software was written in COBAL. That’s not it. It’s bit rot and policy rot. It requires archaeology to fix
@purewickinc I’ve spent 54 minutes today and about 30 minutes on the 26th trying to get an RA number issued to return a purewick system I ordered on Dec 1st. Unfortunately my Mom died before she could use it. I found it still in its box and I’m trying to return it.
Nobody seems to know how to issue an RA number and I’ve received none of the promised callbacks. Their answering service current call I’m on has been on hold for more than 20 minutes now. Supposedly the Sales Rep is also waiting on this line (she said she would).
Today I’ll be talking about the National Open Source Innovation Summit which is where I am today in Dublin, Ireland. https://t.co/xkDNRDBR2y We’ve just heard the opening keynote by @claredillon , co-founder of Open Source Ireland. I’ll be doing it over on @danese.bsky.social
Flying today DUB->SFO to attend https://t.co/OfDp9w4ft7 I’ll be off-grid from Thursday afternoon but up for coffee tomorrow in SF and I’ll be milling around Sonoma 4-5 August.
@TheASF President @ke4qqq received a large round of applause for his contributions to the panel including the sentiment that communities exist to solve problems #opensource#community
@juliaferraioli@ke4qqq 😮Fun fact: @TheASF has an Apache Attic 🗃️ where the ENTIRETY of any ASF project no longer having an active community will be available read-only, forever.♾
Code, history, mailing list, website, issue trackers, documentation, everything, all at the original URLs. 😌
"We often throw around the word corporation or organizations to support open source but they don't - people do? How are foundations supporting the people who do the work?" @DuaneOBrien@DivaDanese#OSPOsforGood2024#opensource
David Nalley @ke4qqq showing poise and honesty admitting that he’s “only” been working in Open Source for 13 years. He’s currently President of @TheASF. So refreshing to hear honesty when quoting credentials.
Remembering legacy, remembering giants in the open source community who have created long lasting communities like @mozilla , foundation for public code and @InnerSourceOrg. @MitchellBaker Ben Cerveny and @DivaDanese in one picture.
Spending today and tomorrow at United Nations Plaza listening to various people’s thoughts on Open Source Program Offices. There’s LOTS of listening, and very little actual collaboration (so far, at least).
