HEY, IT’S ME ON THE SECOND PICTURE!!!! 😱 Oh God… I am definitely going to pass out when I see the physical copy of the book. It’s like Lady Gaga’s song says: So happy I could die! (Of happiness, okay?) 💙
@CRCPress just published a highlight of our Life Science portfolio: 'Minorities in Shark Sciences' by @MISS_Elasmo! The book showcases the work done by Black, Indigenous & People of Color in the fields of shark science & conservation - get your copy at https://t.co/FEzvTHVwJK
I’m forever thankful to MISS, @diverdeb_ and @mangrovetri for this opportunity and believing in me. I’ll say thanks every time I have the chance and forever, because I’ve never imagined having a great opportunity like this so early in my career. So yeah, THANK YOU!
I just received my ebook copy of “Minorities in Shark Sciences: Diverse Voices in Shark Research” written by @MISS_Elasmo members from all over the world. It’s an honor to be part of this book! I’ve shared my research experience with artisanal fishers from South Brazil. 🇧🇷🦈
Wooo! My @MISS_Elasmo book arrived in the mail today!!!
Congrats to all involved in the book, I can’t wait to crack it open! And I’m honored that I was able to contribute to the conclusion - thank you for allowing me to be part of something so important 💕🦈
I send my congratulations to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on his election to be the next president of Brazil following free, fair, and credible elections. I look forward to working together to continue the cooperation between our two countries in the months and years ahead.
When experience childhood trauma as adults, we can experience emotional flashbacks. Many people experience this, and don’t know how to cope.
HERE’S WHAT EMOTIONAL FLASHBACKS ARE & HOW TO DEAL WITH THEM 🧵:
It was also so neat being able to have a few of my students (from my @NatGeo young explorers project) join as well! Thank you to all of the organizations that helped make this weekend a blast!
This past weekend I had the awesome opportunity to co-host the "Ocean Defenders Program" as a representative of American Shark Conservancy alongside Terranaut Club, Minorities in Shark Sciences & Field School. (more info in comments) #marineconservation#sharkresearch#research
The students assisted on a shark research expedition (measuring, tagging, and taking data from different shark species), built & set underwater video systems to monitor local sea life, learned about careers in marine science, and had hands-on experience with coastal species.
New program for students in the Tampa Bay Area!
Science at the Sea: Emerging Scholar Series is for BIPOC or Title 1 middle and high school students who don’t have access to a school science fair and want to participate in a group or individual project!
The first chapter of my masters work is out as a preprint today. We examined 28 years of population trends of planktivorous elasmobranchs at Cocos Islands, Costa Rica.
