Great initiative from @royalsociety to help increase the almost non-existent number of black Professors in the UK. It's a start... @diversity_cu@IOPDiversity https://t.co/ZIunxCjVfO
I'd never heard of a stochastic parrots - thought provoking talk @ICWIP8 about how AI is increasing bias. A 'stochastic parrot' can use language with no understanding of what it is being said - more women need to be involved in the development of these tools to challenge this.
Fantastic big US dataset that you can interrogate about Women and Women of Colour in physics (and Maths and ComputerScience) here https://t.co/uo6X7xtLgZ so much in there!! Excited to hear there is a UK version coming...@IOPDiversity@AdvanceHE@AdvanceHE_REC@ICWIP8
📢 Winner announcement! 📢
Huge congratulations to Anika from Avanti Fields School for winning The Eurekas 2023! Anika blew the judges away with her entry ‘Newton’s Formula 1’– a board game that showcases the laws of physics on a racetrack 🤯: https://t.co/tkCyDzmYp4
Fantastic, heartfelt evidence-based presentation from Prof Nate Brown of @PENNSTATEU1 about how faculty members unintentionally reinforce institutional racism and sexism. Even intellectual beliefs of teachers (growth vs fixed mindsets) can affect equity gap in students. @ICWIP8

Fascinating workshop on Social Science skills for physicists. US study by Eleanor Sayre about what factors of HEIs affect women of colour in STEM...tl:dr answer - no one factor seems to stand out as significant https://t.co/XLgwXTz7af @ICWIP8@IOPDiversity@AdvanceHE_REC
Here are the global stats of % women in Physics at different levels across the world. Not sure if this is the top 9 or just a selection, but looks like France has the least leaky pipeline! @IOPDiversity@ICWIP8@HEFCW@LSWalesCDdCymru
I'll be doing a mini-twitter takeover this week as I am attending the 8th International conference of Women in Physics @ICWIP8 hosted by India - sharing learning and global stats as they happen! Hopefully relevant to non-physicists & diversity followers too @IOPDiversity#ICWIP8
