Take a decision you’ve been putting off, and challenge the fuzzy “what ifs” holding you hostage. If not now, when? If left at the status quo, what will your life and stress look like in six months? In one year? In three years? Who around you will also suffer?
@stocksandcry Different options strategies, cost structures, and monthly payout dates. All track the S&P, but some will do better in a Bull market, others will shine in a bear market.
This is categorically untrue. However, there are some nuances:
1. You must hold MLP’s in a taxable brokerage. If you hold them in a retirement account, you may be subject to UBTI (unrelated business taxable income).
2. The vast majority of distributions are classified as ROC. ROC has no immediate tax burden, but reduces your cost basis. IF you ever sell, this is important consideration to understand. For anyone who’s a high income w-2 earner, this is a dream scenario.
Take this example of a taxable brokerage:
$10,000 in annual dividends from $O
Federal tax liability: approx $3,180 (These dividends are taxed as ordinary income)
$10,000 in annual distributions from $MPLX
100% ROC
Tax burden: $0.00
MLP’s deserve a place in your portfolio!
People think that midstream companies are “boring” - and rightfully so. There’s nothing sexy about the transportation, storage, and processing of oil & gas.
You know what is sexy? Outperforming the market by 3x. $ET $MPLX
I'm convinced that real success is often quiet. It's spending less than you make. Driving the simple car. Wearing what you like. Loving the same person forever. Showing up for friends. Avoiding drama. Doing hard things. Real success doesn't shout. Quiet is seriously underrated.
@stocksandcry You will be! I’m about to turn 35 and will be welcoming my first child into the world. My
delusions of grandeur, and climbing the corporate ladder are over. I want to enjoy my life - the tradeoff is that I will not compound as fast, but that’s 100% okay with me.
@stocksandcry Absolutely! I think finance and investing conversations should be more commonplace. When you climb the ladder, you should always lend a hand and help someone up.
Ask me anything.
@stocksandcry They sure do! Both issue K-1 tax and distributions. MLPI is a great choice as well (i’m building a position in that as well for diversification).
@DudeWhoInvests $MPLX
-Mission critical infrastructure
-AI Demand tailwinds
-Great balance sheet (low relative leverage)
-Forecasting 12.5% distribution increases
-Never cut their distribution (even during Covid)
-Executive team knows how to execute

@roundhill Incredibly disappointed in this fund. I may liquidate my 3,000 shares and redeploy into $YMAG. The relative underperformance is staggering.

@FreedomChasing_@mbluesguitar I hear you! I’m 34 and expecting my first child this January. The beauty of dying with the assets is that your kids will get a step-up in cost basis. The ultimate tax loophole. 👌
