If you want to be a feminist writer, then at the very least, study the craft of Chimamanda Adichie, Mariama Bâ, Flora Nwapa,Nawal El Saadawi, Buchi Emecheta, Ama Ata Aidoo, etc. I mean their stylistic features.

Even Chimamanda Adichie, one of the most renowned contemporary feminist writers, has publicly stated that some of you are disguising under the umbrella of feminism to practice witchcraft, not feminism.

I understand that book titles can be metaphorical. Ola Rotimi’s “Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again” does not merely chronicle a chaotic polygamous home but satirises the disorder of Nigerian politics after we gained independence.

Likewise, Ayi Kwei Armah’s ”The Beautyful Ones Are Not Yet Born” is not about women at all (you can even see how he deliberately used ”beautyful” instead of “beautiful” for symbolic meaning and other effects).It is a lament for a continent still waiting for leaders of integrity after independence.

But this your ’Husband Is Useless’ belongs to a degoratory category. The title is not metaphorical. It is pure f00ling.

In an age where few read beyond headlines and many reduce discourse to gender wars on social media,such a title will be seized upon and weaponized, regardless of what the book itself contains.

By the way, the dedication page and the blurb behind make the theme of the text unmistakable. The title is an accurate reflection of the content.

You have achieved what you set out to achieve which is visibility. And I know that for some of you, the fastest route to the limelight is to use men as the scaffolding.
