An Informed Voter, Not a Supporter
I am not a BJP supporter. I am an informed voter.
I have voted for the BJP because, at different points, I believed it was the better option for India. That does not make me a party loyalist, a bhakt or a political shareholder.
I can acknowledge the achievements on infrastructure, digitalisation, national confidence and India's global standing while questioning unemployment, inflation, corruption, institutional independence, civic governance and the quality of public services.
I can support Hindutva without supporting every act committed in its name. I can be a Hindu nationalist and still oppose needless polarisation. I can admire Modi and still say when he gets it wrong. I can vote for the BJP without surrendering my right to criticise it.
A government is not entitled to permanent loyalty because the alternatives are weak. That is precisely when scrutiny becomes more important.
I don't want slogans. I want jobs, accountable governance, faster justice, cleaner cities, better schools and hospitals, safer streets, institutional integrity and consequences for incompetence and corruption.
The BJP may remain my electoral choice. But it does not own my conscience.
I am an informed voter, not a political employee. My vote is for India, not for a party. My loyalty is to the country, not to any leader.

You should travel around in India to get an idea of the kind of growth that is happening. I get BJP hating is kinda the cool thing on social media and it gets clicks. They deserve it on many issues too. But a part of my job involves crazy traveling whether in Canada or in India. When I'm in India I can see crystal clear effects of a growing economy. You can spin it whatever way you want to but the average Indian is also seeing what I am observing. Yes issues like municipal governance, AQI, free speech, police and judicial reforms remain and we need to fight hard. But boy is this economy growing!! Wait for a decade and the fruits will be for all of us to share.

Facts below (1/5):

In 2025, average earnings per hour (EPH), excluding tips, for a delivery partner on Zomato were ₹102.
In 2024, this number was ₹92. That’s a ~10.9% year-on-year increase. Over a longer horizon also, EPH has shown steady growth.

Most delivery partners work for a few hours and only a few days in a month. But if someone were to work for 10 hours/day, 26 days/month, this translates to ~₹26,500/month in gross earnings. After accounting for fuel and maintenance (~20%), the net earnings for the partner are ~₹21,000/month.

Note: Earnings per hour are calculated on total hours logged in, including the time when the partner might be waiting to receive an order. Earnings per “busy hour” will be higher but that’s not the right metric to look at.

On top of this - delivery partners earn 100% of tips given by customers. The average tip per hour in 2025 on Zomato was INR 2.6 and in 2024 was INR 2.4 per hour. Tips are transferred instantly, with zero deductions. We absorb the payment gateway processing cost ourselves. About 5% of the orders get tipped on Zomato; 2.5% on Blinkit.

This was my tweet on July 30, just after Trump launched his tariff war on India.

Trade, and exports to the US, are a relatively small part of the India Story when it comes to the economy.
That's why many of us felt that aggressive reforms to boost the domestic economy was the best response to the tariff war, instead of bending the knee to Trump.

Luckily, a raft of reforms has been announced and others are being considered. And the data is showing that the Indian economy is holding up well despite the 50% tariffs. The rupee is weakening, but other numbers look OK.

So let's hope we keep pushing ahead with drastic new age reform over the next few months - deregulation, factor market reforms, legal reforms. That will unshackle the domestic growth engine.

Combine that with a FTA with Europe - and India will be well insulated from Trumpian pressure tactics. If Europe does a FTA and the US doesn't accept a fair trade deal, then US companies will be at a comparative disadvantage in the massive Indian market. That gives India valuable leverage.

So if you factor in change in the 31.6% average rupees depreciation and analyze the increase of 32.9% in cost of fuel rise it leaves us with a difference of 1.3%. Is this rise of 1.3% only due to taxes or could it include other factors like higher cost of refining/transport/margins etc
