Out of curiosity, when was the last time massive student protests turned out to be on the wrong side of history, and the state using police violence against them turned out to be right?
I want to be as clear as I possibly can:
Nonviolent students calling for their universities and government to stop giving Israel money and weapons while it kills thousands of innocent people in Gaza
is not the same
as when Nazis attempted to exterminate the Jewish people.
It's important to remember that Edward Said taught at Columbia for 40 years. Columbia has a Centre for Palestinian Studies due to his scholarship. He unabashedly navigated those wretched spaces; confronting and exposing what no one else would— to build an entire new discipline.
The French guy who intervened was offered citizenship but the Pakistani security guard who witnessed his fellow Pakistani security guard be stabbed to death and still tried to help (and was also stabbed!) has not been offered citizenship but they will “consider it” hmm ok 😒
you are standing on the ruins of the maghrabi quarter, which was destroyed by zionists in 1967, burying an elderly woman who refused to leave her home alive & making hundreds refugees ... this is in east jerusalem, palestine which zionists have illegally occupied since
