If men in politics could just focus on actual issues instead of dragging women who have nothing to do with their scheme of things - it would be stellar.

The reason abusive motor mouths like DMKs Shivaji Krishnamurthy could speak so vulgarly on political platforms is because he was encouraged to do so. Not once, but several times till he was expelled.

I didn’t understand what the purported underlying meaning of what the LoP of Tamilnadu said someone known to me explained a while ago. I thought it was about a water connection. Turns out most women didn’t get it. It was a Bro thing.

The least he could have done was tell his audience to pipe down or tell them to behave better, but he went ahead to say something far worse.

It is of course, very easy for anyone in this ecosystem to say if we applied a crass meaning, it is our fault and that our thinking is crass, but I am old enough to remember how the very same ecosystem used to refer and speak about the late Honble CM Jayalalitha.

The older generations profanity was normalised; enough reels are now making the rounds on some collated speeches of senior politicians from the past - but someone in the younger generation is expected to be better, not profanely worse.

What a disappointment.

Women are not outraged enough -

In rage.
And in solidarity.

A 22-year-old delivery executive has been arrested for flashing a woman inside her apartment in Bengaluru's Marathahalli area, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place on Saturday evening when the accused, identified as Vijay Mallikarjun Kamat, arrived at an apartment in Munnekolala to deliver an order. According to the woman's complaint, the delivery executive insisted on using the bathroom and flashed her after coming out.

Why I started supporting Joseph Vijay after being arguably his harshest critic!

This post is for everyone who has asked why I started supporting Joseph Vijay after arguably being his harshest critic. I hope I am able to clear the air and dispel any confusion.

Chief Minister and no longer an actor!

First and foremost, I respect the office he occupies and the mandate he received from the people. There is nothing superior to the people's mandate. He is now the democratically elected Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and I respect him for that to begin with. I do not see him as an actor anymore.

I called him a narcissistic megalomaniac and a psychopath!

I thought he would be an inaccessible, narcissistic megalomaniac who would never leave his Panayur bungalow. But he reports to the office every day, meets people, and quietly goes about his work without any hype. He has taken some brilliant decisions within such a short period. He seems to be accessible, approachable and affable.

I hated his fans who lacked discipline and decorum!

I thought his hardcore fans (a.k.a. Anils) would wreak havoc and turn Tamil Nadu into a graveyard. But, barring a few sporadic incidents, his fans and supporters have behaved well. The level of toxicity and abuse on social media has also come down drastically.

I was skeptical of his relationship with Delhi!

I thought he would indulge in blind anti-BJP and anti-PM Modi politics. But he seems to enjoy a cordial, friendly, and highly pragmatic relationship with Delhi which will benefit Tamil Nadu immensely. He has already said he will not use terms such as "Ondriyam."

I was critical of his lack of leadership skills and administrative experience!

He seems to be the very anti-thesis of what I thought and is a lot smarter than most think. All those who called him a tharkuri are the real tharkuris, including myself. He seems to learn things quickly and grasp them adeptly. His impromptu speech in the Assembly was impressive.

Having said all of the above, I still stand by my harsh criticisms of Joseph Vijay based on the manner in which he conducted himself before the elections. And I equally stand by the praises I am giving him based on his performance as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Last but not least, he is the most powerful force today that can contain and keep my main enemy, DMK, at bay. But if his government makes grave mistakes, I will be the first to attack and criticize.

Take too much Ozempic, and your brain stops wanting things: food, sex, even the urge to get out of bed. People end up in hospital beds for days, staring at the ceiling, feeling nothing. The medical name for that state is anhedonia, and it tells you how the drug actually works.

Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro all belong to the same drug family, called GLP-1s. They kill hunger. They also quiet almost every other craving your brain produces.

Inside your brain there is a small region that makes a chemical called dopamine. Dopamine is your brain’s “this is worth wanting” chemical, the reason you reach for one more bite of pasta, refresh your inbox one more time, or pick up your phone every few minutes. GLP-1 drugs reach that region and turn the dopamine down. The right dose dampens the loudest craving first: food. Take too much, and the volume drops on everything else, sex, exercise, work, even the urge to get out of bed in the morning.

Anhedonia is the medical name for not feeling pleasure from anything at all. It looks identical to deep depression. The good news is that anhedonia from GLP-1s has an off switch: once the drug clears your system, the wanting comes back.

The FDA has logged over 1,150 reports of bad reactions tied to compounded GLP-1s through July 2025. These are custom-mixed versions made by smaller pharmacies. In many of those cases, patients accidentally took five to twenty times their prescribed dose. The cause is usually confusion between milliliters and units when measuring out a dose with an insulin syringe, since compounded versions come in plain vials instead of the pre-filled pens that brand-name Ozempic uses.

About 15 million Americans currently use a GLP-1, roughly one in eight adults. Around 75% of them eventually quit. Cost and side effects are the top reasons. A growing number describe a third reason that patients call “the lights dimming,” a flat, gray feeling across the whole day that doctors now recognize as anhedonia caused by the drug itself.

This same mechanism has caught pharma’s attention. Eli Lilly is now running two large clinical trials with a combined 2,200 patients to see if a GLP-1 drug can treat alcohol addiction. The bet is that the same brain switch that turns off cravings for food can also turn off cravings for alcohol, cocaine, nicotine, and gambling. A 2026 psychiatry review put it bluntly: doctors should be treating these as psychiatric drugs, because that is what they have turned out to be.

The drug works by quieting your brain’s signal that something is worth wanting. A normal dose turns the volume down on food cravings. Push the dose too high, and everything else goes quiet too.
