A 22-year-old man, Mayank Lohar, was stabbed to death by co-passenger Sachin Ramesh Suvarna (30) during an argument over keeping train doors open amid rains, on a Churchgate-Nallasopara local between Andheri and Borivali.

Suvarna allegedly stabbed Lohar with a "sattu" before fleeing; Lohar died at a Kandivali hospital despite swift GRP/RPF response.

Suvarna was tracked to Panvel and arrested after teams scanned footage from over 400 CCTV cameras. He had reportedly told his father about the altercation before fleeing home, fearing arrest.

This marks the second such stabbing on Western Railway's suburban network this year, after a similar incident in February at Malad station.
