One of the smartest players in the game speaking about how the game is changing where it’s faster…but (in his words) dumber.
This is what pretty much all high level hockey people will tell you. The players have never been more skilled, but there’s a severe lack of hockey IQ and creativity.
This starts in youth hockey.
-The lack of unstructured play.
-Coaching systems instead of creativity.
-Too much emphasis on winning and players not having freedom to make mistakes.
-Skating around implements that look good on instagram rather than drills with decision making.
The game has changed because how we coach kids and the business of hockey have changed at the youth levels.
The fact that Kucherov is speaking to it is wild.
After undergoing a meniscus trim Tuesday, the Raiders believe there’s a realistic chance Brock Bowers will miss only one game and return for Week 2 at the Los Angeles Chargers, per sources. Team will see how he’s feeling this week, but a potential return next week is within the realm of possibility.
I knew there would be one huge injury update right before Week 1, but did not expect it to be Brock Bowers…
Meniscus debridement could be anywhere from 2-6 weeks.
Some players have rushed back within 2-3 if pain is low.
What a shock just before regular season starts..
@Target any idea why my fiance wasn’t able to try on jeans tonight at the Cottage Grove MN location? They were shorthanded so the dressing rooms were closed, and they wouldnt let her try on anything. $200 worth of jeans had to be put back. Not great customer service
“The best players in the game have the puck on their stick for less than 2 minutes a game”
If we want to develop players, we have to remember to focus on coaching them not just with the puck, but away from the puck as well.
We talk about the attributes of great players on this week’s podcast!
