@sara_dimeo CCC opinions seem to be more truthful than monthly evals since it comes from a collective. Since monthly evals can come from a single faculty member and not anonymous, they may not be as truthful to a poorly performing resident. If monthly evals improve, CCC results are better.
@emily_fri Once they have demonstrated competence in other procedures, like central lines, i’m not in the room, but available for help…indirect supervision. My goal for residents is to get them to autonomous practice as soon as they can, then practice that way with indirect supervision.
@emily_fri EM Perspective: intubations and chest tubes are always under direct supervision, regardless of the PGY level. If an intern is doing it, more likely to be gloved up and right next to them. But if it’s a third or fourth year, most likely standing in the corner of the room.
@KatyWyszynski Nope. But if someone has a YouTube channel, blog, podcast, or anything else that they’re proud of and mentioned it in their application, then I’ll check that out.
