@HPhobiaWatch I don't know why this government does not realises that the uncertainty on the vehicular policy and fuel mix up will cost dearly in the elections....on top of that this minister appears to be saying whatever he likes, without even examining the practicality of it!!!!
Yes, Britain famously transferred wealth to India. When British arrived in India its share of the world economy was 4%. When they left in 1947, they had taken it to 23%, roughly equal to all of Europe combined.
On a serious note.
The Indian railways were financed entirely by bonds sold on the London Stock Exchange. British investors were guaranteed a return of 5% per annum by the colonial government. A guaranteed return, in an era when no other safe investment in Britain offered anything close. And who guaranteed those returns? Indian taxpayers. Indians paid for the construction. Indians paid the guaranteed profits to British shareholders. Indians paid for the equipment, which was manufactured exclusively in Britain and shipped to India at inflated prices. One mile of Indian railway cost twice what the same mile cost to build in Canada or Australia, because the guaranteed return meant there was no incentive to control costs. The more it cost, the more British investors and suppliers earned.
And what were these railways designed to do? Move raw materials from India’s interior to ports. Cotton from the Deccan to Bombay. Jute from Bengal to Calcutta. Coal from Bihar to wherever the Empire needed it. Tea from Assam to London’s drawing rooms. The routes connected mines and plantations to harbors. Not cities to cities. Not people to opportunities. Raw materials to ships. The Indian public’s transportation needs were, as Shashi Tharoor put it, entirely incidental.
Oh, and the railways also moved troops. Very efficiently. So that when Indians protested being looted, the British could deploy soldiers to shoot them. That was the other “infrastructure investment.”
But wait, there is more. Before the railways, India had the world’s finest textile industry. The British smashed the looms, broke the weavers’ thumbs (this is not metaphor, this is documented history), imposed tariffs on Indian cloth, and shipped raw cotton to Manchester to be manufactured into garments that were then sold back to Indians. India went from being the world’s largest textile exporter to an importer of British cloth within a generation.
The Bengal Famine of 1943 killed an estimated 3 million people. Churchill diverted food supplies from Bengal to already well-supplied British troops and European stockpiles. When informed of the famine, his response, on the record, was to ask why Gandhi had not died yet. This is the “infrastructure investor” Musk is defending.
India contributed 2.5 million soldiers to fight in two World Wars on Britain’s behalf.
So let us summarize the colonial “investment” in India. They took a 23% global economy and left it at 4%. They destroyed the world’s finest textile industry. They built railways with Indian money, for Indian resources, generating British profits. They engineered famines that killed millions. They drained an estimated $45 trillion in today’s value over 200 years.
That’s some unprofitable adventure.
London's mayor Sadiq Khan has shaved his head and explains it’s part of the pilgrimage he made to Mecca to “part with the ego”.
When Hindus do the same at Tirupati Temple, his biradars call it blind superstition.
Their ritual = spiritual science
our ritual = primitive belief
🤨
Was this top brass around when a Col was beaten by Punjab Police or the reports where serving jawans were manhandled?
Why this selective displeasure?
Just because he is within organisation and a junior?
Should I ask one more embarrassing question? Very embarrassing.

@m_devrari@ShekharGupta@sneheshphilip A super bright army officer is not needed to pose challenge to the civilian supremacy....rather a half witted one with lot of conviction will easily be able to do that...All the defence officers are intelligent coz they know that in our country the military is not supreme!!!
I wonder at the vehemennce with which some assert the divinity of Jesus. Well, the Bible Jesus is not a historical figure. We know him through the 4 gospels which were written almost a century after the death of a Jewish rabi, Yeshuva who was crucified by the Roman governor Pontius Piltae at the insistance of the Jewish pharisees & Scribes whom he had criticized for being hypocritial; labelling them sons of serpents & white washed tombs. People felt sympathy for the simple guy carrying a cross on his bleeding shoulders for doing nothing wrong. Stories spread he is a prophet and later a god like the then mythical gods Horus, Osiris, Mithra & Dyonysis. Accordingly the gospel writers framed stories to make him have an immaculate birth and do many miracles & even rise up from the tomb. Nobody could varify these as they were written a century later. Also Paul, another mad desciple invented the theory that he died for the sins of mankind like the other gods mentioned. They copied the mircles of all of the then known gods including Krishna and Budha to make him also a god. A cult soon spread & the Romans accpeted it; the religion spread. All other books which depcited him as firebrand married preacher rabi were destroyed & the 4 gospels were accepted as canonical or true. Jesus is only a fabricated god.
Having been born in a Catholic family I was taught Jesus is the living God and Hindu gods are all mythical. Later Islamic friends told me Islam is the only true religion. To my utter dismay I discovered Jesus is a mythical figure and Islamic God, Allah an invention of Mohammed. Whereas Hinduism is eternal without beginning or end. Its Godhead is one with the universe itself. This is more scientific than the other two in all respects.
@ColSanjayPande Nothing will ever happen to a babu in this country...they own the system.... probably he may even be rewarded in his next appointment...they remain unfazed!!!!!
CBSE Chairman and Secretary TRANSFERRED. PUNISHED.
I am under punishment from 1960. Dad in Airforce-14 TRANSFERS, I joined Army in 1981- 17 TRANSFERS.
I must be worse than CBSE guys!
I think the IAS system should be abolished.
Instead, its workload should be divided among multiple smaller administrative posts.
No more houses, cars, or bodyguards funded by taxpayers' money.
Most of them are corrupt anyway.
Indian bureaucracy needs serious restructuring.
Why only the Colonel and Major? The then GOC of the concerned Division should also be investigated for possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income & for corruption. However, instead of doing so, we are promoting him. Is that a fact that these two Officers are being made a scapegoat? This case as well as all other such cases of corruption should be handed over to CBI.

Haryana's Jats should be honourably credited for keeping Indian wrestling arena alive, currently they are the only Indians who've seen to amassed great interest for this beautiful sport, any kind of hatred & belittling is just a projection of one's own inferiority complex.
What do soldiers have to go through because of bureaucracy that you will never see in the news?
Army gives a fixed 10,000 uniform allowance and fixed rates for moving luggage. But when it comes to soldiers' travel, all rules change.
Govt travel companies charge higher fares, costing taxpayers more money, while private cos running DTS keep benefiting.
Look at the screenshots, after travelling, soldiers are forced to submit multiple documents to prove their journey or face deductions from their salary. Many officers wait months for refunds, and there are even complaints of touts at PCDA Pune demanding 5–10% to get claims cleared.
This is the reality of #DTS and #PCDA. If the system treats soldiers like this, what message does it send about how much their service is valued?
@rajnathsingh@PMOIndia@SpokespersonMoD don't want to solve such issues as it is keeping some bureaucrats wealthy.
Even @IndiaCAG is mute and watching public money being officially looted.
The funniest thing about today's US ops in Iran is that China supplied JY-27A radar to Iran to detect stealth fighter jets. Iran deployed it on Goruk Island & this radar was destroyed by U.S. stealth fighter jet F-35
Never trust Chinese junk. Example is Iran,Pakistan & Venezuela
