I was able to speak to a day time audience about the critical role of the Human Rights Act and ECHR in holding the police to account - The Shocking True Story of Britain’s Black Cab Rapist | This Morning https://t.co/errmnRHOgx via @YouTube
This is a hard article to read, but I hope you'll do so. I've spent some time reporting on widespread rape and other sexual violence of Palestinian male and female prisoners by Israeli authorities, and the article is now published. The assault victims were warned not to give speak of what they endured -- they were sometimes told they would be killed or raped if they gave interviews -- but they found the courage to do so. One man described being raped three times in a single day in Israeli prison, the third time after he tried to protest. A young woman said the guards would come in at the beginning of each shift and strip her naked and abuse her. Another reported that she was shown photos of herself being raped and warned they would be released unless she cooperated with Israeli intelligence. Even three children who had been detained told me they had been sexually abused. Look, whatever our position on the Middle East, we should be able to agree on being anti-rape. Sexual assaults were horrific when Israeli women were targeted on Oct. 7, and they're equally horrific when Israeli authorities use them against Palestinians day after day after day. We should be able to find common ground in opposing rape. Here's a gift link to the article: https://t.co/aMMHId49OO
BREAKING: For the first time, a Judge will seek to sentence direct action activists, four of the Filton 24, as terrorists.
They were convicted of criminal damage, with the jury unaware of a potential terrorism sentence.
Reporting restrictions on this have just been lifted.
🚨BREAKING -- The Court of Appeal has ruled that Mr Justice Johnson had no jurisdiction to refer Palestine Action barrister Rajiv Menon KC for contempt of court proceedings.
These proceedings were brought against Menon after he reminded a jury earlier this year of its absolute right to acquit.

Evidence mounting from Epstein files that Farage, Boris Johnson & Rees-Mogg conspired with a foreign national Steve Bannon to bring down a British PM. Which is illegal btw. Yet not a whisper of this will you hear from Britain's right wing journalists like @afneil & @FraserNelson
Manchester and Manchester United were both built by the contribution of people who have come here from all corners of the globe; workers, players, communities and fans. Both are plagued by billionaires who denounce immigrants while getting rich off the back of their labour.
Eight years ago today, a group of us stood in the exact spot the Busby Babes "Last Lineup" photo was taken 60 years to the day previously to pay tribute to those players and remember them in their prime, rather than as victims of tragedy. Beautiful welcome from Partizan Belgrade.

Still can't get my head around what's madder - that we gifted Blackburn the League by one point in 1995, or that 30 years later we've somehow ended up with a winger from that team directing how Manchester United Football Club should be playing and who we should be signing.
This is the source of the rot which generates so many “bad apples” and until it is rooted out, abuse of power will remain endemic to #Policing. https://t.co/96tJjxbwwh
The methods #MUFC are using when issuing Sanctions are starting to border on an invasion of privacy.
One member, who has three accounts linked via Strong Relationships, purchased Man City tickets in a single transaction totalling £250+. They’ve been open about repeatedly refreshing to secure the tickets they needed.
Despite this, they received the same “suspicious activity” email that many members received last week, with a fixed appeal deadline today (Mon 22/12), a deadline I’ve already highlighted that appears to breach United’s own Sanctions T&Cs.
To appeal, they submitted extensive ID, including passports and driving licenses across the three accounts, to verify the members involved. United has now responded, stating that this still isn’t sufficient and demanding a “live photo” of each person holding their ID.
Manchester United’s Privacy Policy does not explicitly state that a “selfie with ID” is a standard verification requirement. While it grants the club broad powers to conduct identification checks, including the use of facial recognition for season ticket renewals, this does not automatically justify its use in every scenario.
Under UK GDPR, requesting a live selfie of the ID is an intrusive form of verification. It must be justified under the principles of data minimisation, necessity, and security. While companies can request additional proof if there are genuine doubts about identity, the request must be reasonable, proportionate, and supported by secure methods of transmission and storage.
This raises a serious question: why isn’t the club following the same established processes used earlier this year for Season Ticket renewals when sanctions are issued? The likely answer is cost — but that isn’t a valid excuse under data protection law.
I would strongly advise affected members to contact the club’s Data Protection Officer (DPO): [email protected]
If concerns are not resolved, the matter can be escalated to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO):

I’ll also be contacting the Independent Football Ombudsman (IFO) @FootballOmbuds to seek their view on the current Sanctions appeals process.
Today Russian court designated Pussy Riot as an extremist organization.
And yet, we're freer than those who try to silence us. We can say what I think about putin — that he is an aging sociopath spreading his venom around the world like cancer. In today’s Russia, telling the truth is extremism. So be it - we’re proud extremists, then.
This court order is designed to erase the very existence of Pussy Riot from the minds of Russians. Owning a balaclava, having our song on your computer, or liking one of our posts could lead to prison time. Pussy Riot has effectively become “those who cannot be named” in Russia - and in countries that cooperate with Russia on extradition: Belarus, Georgia, Iran, China, India, Thailand, Indonesia, and many others.
We wear masks because you cannot stamp out an idea. Putin may kill his opponents, but the world still does support truth, progress and justice over the delusional deeds of old decrepit men. The just people of this world stand with democracy, with the sovereignty of Ukraine, with freedom of expression and with a spirit of punk that is to stand up to the bad guy, even when he’s the one with more bombs.
