Grateful to @AnetaBrockhill for inviting me to join her class at the University of Exeter today as part of their module on "Global Palestine and the Politics of Solidarity." This image from the University of Valencia played a key role in my presentation.
In 1982, the poet June Jordan wrote an open letter denouncing the Zionism of her peers—especially Adrienne Rich. Rescued from the archives of Audre Lorde, who, along with a number of her peers, conspired to silence Jordan, the letter can finally be read in its entirety here.
Everyone likes to post good news with sour caveats to prove we aren't idiots, I am just going to say this clip in context of today is pure political joy and I do not care if I seem stupid for posting good vibes sometimes
A lot of so-called leftists either have an incredibly poor appreciation of the magnitude of genocide or tacitly believe that it's acceptable for Palestinians to suffer one.
I will never back down in speaking truth to power.
The apartheid government of Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians. Palestinians will not be erased. Solidarity with all those outside of these walls in the streets protesting and exercising their right to dissent.
For those downplaying foreign policy, do a little reading on the imperial/colonial boomerang. The methods and technologies of colonial violence employed elsewhere are currently being used domestically against our communities and social movements.
Netanyahu is a war criminal committing genocide against the Palestinian people. It is utterly disgraceful that leaders from both parties have invited him to address Congress. He should be arrested and sent to the International Criminal Court.
BREAKING: 400 American Jews mark Netanyahu's arrival by refusing to leave Congress until our government listens to the will of the people and STOPS ARMING ISRAEL!
At least 70 Palestinians have been killed and over 200 wounded following the launch of a new Israeli assault on eastern Khan Younis, according to health officials in Gaza. https://t.co/uGmRh7vldN
An analysis of this trend from May, which notes that the @nytimes is very capable of reporting on repression of journalists in enemy states like Russia—just not Israel. Nothing has changed in the past 2 months. https://t.co/Kp03TkjznL
Reminder that the @nytimes still hasn’t written a single story which analyzes Israel’s mass (and often targeted) murder of 150+ Palestinian journalists.
Their colleagues are being slaughtered en masse and they’re ignoring it.
One reason we focus our critique on the New York Times is that they are the only large newspaper in the US with a sustainable business model. They are already a dominant force in journalism and are on the way to being a hegemonic force.
What is happening in Khan Younis right now is throwing hell on children and families. People are running like mad. Old people on wheelchairs. Pregnant mothers. Amputees running with no crutches. And we sit here and write about them.
This world is so damned.
