Wellington City Council should make having Know Your Stuff a requirement for such events. Basic community safety efforts shouldn't be optional.

The funds should specifically have excluded offshore companies applying.

Research shows that indoor settings are far higher risk for Covid spread than outdoors.

Why then does the 100 person gathering limit apply to both? If evidence is the basis for traffic light settings then outdoors should have higher limits.

Safe to say that the higher profile an artist is, the more likely they are to have other gigs on other nights - and often needing flight to get to/from.

If the traffic light change was at midday on 30 Dec instead of midnight it would save the govt millions of dollars in payouts it will now need to make through various event/culture protections schemes. And for no purpose either. @jacindaardern @chrishipkins @grantrobertson1

@hypeasgus It is now. When it came out it wasn't. I guess you could say that a small chunk of house that's rocked the last decade would have been called tech house pre 2000. But stuff labelled tech house now wouldn't have. 🤷‍♂️

@hypeasgus @anth_ny_ We have different experiences of course but I've asked dozens of djs in recent weeks about it. The mid size gigs go out of their way to pay as many as possible. The larger ones more likely to just offer contra.

I'm with you on the scheme aims, but think they've missed the mark.

Request. I invite anyone to offer a good reason the majority of NZ's best summer festivals have been excluded from eligibility for the Events Transition Support Scheme announced by @Stuart_NashMP this week. The events scene is livid.

@EricCrampton @publicaddress @Offsetting @dbseymour @duncangreive @nzmusicmonth If that was the case, cutting down in admin, then that's not a reasonable excuse at all. The mid size events are the ones at most risk of being cancelled, with the most downstream impact too in artists, suppliers etc.

Looks like the alcohol laws are back in the mix now that a few of the orgs which lost badly in the Auckland Local Alcohol Policy appeals case think everyone has forgotten about it. They want to make their lobbying stick this time. 🤔 #alcoholnz
