The greatest trick governments ever pulled was convincing people that freedom and privacy are obstacles to safety.

What we are witnessing is not child protection. It is the construction of a surveillance architecture that will eventually monitor, profile, categorize and control every aspect of our digital lives.

Today it is age verification and content scanning, tomorrow it is digital identity, then financial monitoring, then behavioural scoring, then access to services conditioned on compliance.

The destination is not difficult to see. It is a technocratic system where every interaction is tracked, every transaction recorded, every opinion assessed and every citizen reduced to a data profile managed by governments and corporations working hand in hand.

A form of digital neo feudalism where a small unelected class controls the platforms, the infrastructure, the money and ultimately the boundaries of acceptable behaviour.

The argument that only criminals should fear surveillance is as absurd as saying only criminals need freedom of speech. Privacy is not evidence of wrongdoing, it is the foundation of human dignity, individual sovereignty and genuine liberty.

The UK government is asking citizens to accept the presumption of guilt simply to communicate online. To prove who they are, verify their age and allow their devices to inspect their content before they can participate in modern society.

History teaches us that every power granted to the state eventually expands beyond its initial mandate. The technology introduced to detect one form of content today will be used to police entirely different forms of expression tomorrow.

The choice before us is not between privacy and child protection, it is between preserving a free society, or constructing the infrastructure of a digital prison that will further enslave us.

The App Store Accountability Act is a de facto Digital ID. It will not give parents the "right to protect their kids" - it is, in fact, a government mandate. That is NOT parental authority, it's government-as-parent.

Mike Lee's bill will force every family into the same mandate. These tools for parents already exist, giving parents the ultimate flexibility, without requiring every citizen to provide verified data to Big Tech just to download an app.

This bill will not protect children, and it will not empower parents. We must say NO to Digital ID!!

- en 2010 il commençait à dire qu'il voulait réduire la cadence avec les AC et que le fait d'annualiser la licence allait nuire à la qualité des jeux

- en 2011 il rejoint THQ qui fondent spécialement pour lui un sous studio et commence a bosser sur 1666 Amsterdam
- en 2013 Ubisoft rachète THQ et vire spécifiquement Patrice, et conservent par la même occasion tous les droits sur sa création 1666 Amsterdam
- en 2016, après 3 ans de bataille juridique acharnée, ils récupèrent les droits sur son jeu

The UK government is reportedly considering plans to force tech companies to stop children from viewing, sending, receiving or sharing nude images on phones and other devices.

Most people agree children should be protected online. The concern is how these rules would work in practice.

Silkie Carlo from Big Brother Watch said: “This will only result in population-wide ID checks for all of us to use our phones, tablets and laptops.

These plans would replace efforts for meaningful tech and parental responsibility with performative, authoritarian government control that children can easily circumvent by accessing adult-registered devices.”

People say children will still find ways around the restrictions, while adults could lose more privacy when using everyday technology.

A quick aside: Be careful where you source your information online, whether it’s disturbing propaganda accounts, AI, ragebait fear mongerers,…we’re living in a complicated time and authenticity and empathy will be the most important currencies of the future.

Anyway, I can’t wait to see all these words get minced and twisted again so people can grow their followings and stir outrage. It’s a natural ecosystem after all, bottom-feeders have to get their meal too!

Hopefully, our story has inspired others to open up more and we can all find understanding. At the end of the day, I’m grateful that the discourse about our decision has spread so wide, it’s clearly a very important and sensitive topic, one that we need to pay more attention to.
