แต่แล้ววันที่ 21 กรกฎาคม 2025 หลังย้ายเข้าไปอยู่กับพ่อแค่ 2 วัน ญาติได้รับสายจากมาเคย์ลา มาเคย์ลาร้องไห้บอกให้ช่วยมารับหนูหน่อย ป้ารีบไปรับ มาเคย์ลาบอกป้าทั้งน้ำตาว่าพ่อทำอะไรกับเธอ 4 ชั่วโมง มาเคย์ลาหนีออกมามีแค่พาสปอร์ต บัตร��ระชาชน กับเงินนิดหน่อย อุ้มแมวหนี เสื้อผ้าเปื้อนเลือด

ลุงกับป้าพามาเคย์ลาไปตรวจที่รพ ผลออกมาคือมาเคย์ลาโดนข่มขืน ตรวจเจอดีเอ็นเอของพ่อแท้ๆ ในตัวเธอ มาเคย์ลาทั้งกรี๊ดทั้งร้องไห้ ไม่อยากจะเชื่อสิ่งที่พ่อทำกับเธอ ญาติไปแจ้งตำรวจจะเอาเรื่องพ่อจนถึงที่สุด พ่อโดนจับแต่อ้างว่าเมา ภาพตัด ซึ่งถ้าคนเราเมาจริงจะไม่สามารถลงมือได้ เท่ากับพ่อโกหกหน้าด้านๆ

สตีเฟน วินเซนต์ ชาเวซ อายุ 41 พ่อแท้ๆ ของมาเคย์ลา ถูกจับตั้งข้อหา 4 ข้อหา ล่วงละเมิดทางเพศคนในครอบครัว มอมเหล้าลูก แต่นายสตีเฟนปฏิเสธทั้งหมดและประกันตัวออกมา

หลังจากนั้นมาเคย์ลากลับไปอยู่บ้านเกิดที่รัฐนอร์ทแคโรไลนา กลายเป็นโรคซึมเศร้า หลังจากเกิด���รื่องได้ 5 เดือน มาเคย์ลาก็ตัดสินใจจากโลกนี้ไป ทิ้งจดหมายตั้งคำถามถึงสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นว่า ‘ทำไมพ่อถึงทำร้ายเธอ?’
