My gestational carrier had her second planned ultrasound this morning:
“Baby looks great! HR [heart rate] was 162 and baby was measuring at 9 weeks and 1 day!” She is due in mid-February, 2027. That’s just seven months from now. Where did the first two months disappear to?!

My gestational carrier had her first planned ultrasound this morning: “Ultrasound went great. Baby is measuring at 7 weeks which is right on track with a heart rate of 130!” Here’s my little daughter.

We officially hit 8 weeks yesterday. Arco loves the couch now, almost as much as his queen mattress (to be disappearing soon when a new dog bed arrives so I can restore the breakfast room to normalcy). Those eyes! And he smells fantastic—suitable to become a woodsy cologne.

Yes, his paws really are that big. Meet Arco, the Galgo (Spanish Grayhound) I adopted in April 2026 from Malaga, Spain. I take him to the couch for 1-2 hours daily so he gets comfortable in other parts of the house. But the blanket and pillows keep falling off.
