I don't mean this as an insult, just an observation...
Local businesses are *still* the slowest to adapt.
In this case it’s costing them 10s of thousands of dollars per month.
If you're sleeping on SEO and AI Search Optimization right now, particularly given how easy it is at the moment (check the results on my previous posts), you're going to feel a little silly in 2026 and 2027 when you're inevitably playing catch up.
Let me walk you through exactly how to do all this by yourself without having to hire expensive outside help.
And if you want the “off-menu” cheat codes we’ve tested for ChatGPT + Perplexity visibility (not public yet), follow + RT + comment “2025 X Local Guide” and I’ll DM you the full playbook.
You must do all 3 for the DM.
Let's start at the top with the most important thing: authority.
Google and AI engines both rank based on authority + trust.
That means:
PR + Backlinks from locally relevant, trusted sites
Brand Mentions that reinforce entity recognition
NAP + Schema Consistency across the web
If you ignore authority, you’ll stay invisible even for low-competition ZIP-level queries.
The best tricks right now:
Partner with complementary local businesses for link swaps
Pitch seasonal tips or data to neighborhood blogs and news sites
Submit to high-trust local directories
Sponsor school events, local fundraisers, and get a backlink in recap posts
Get on “Best of [City]” lists that ChatGPT and Perplexity already cite
If you want to skip the outreach grind you can also try the SEO Stuff Gold Plan over at seo stuff dot com
(We only place links on sites that already appear in AI answers).
Now let's talk Google Business Profiles.
As of late 2025, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Bing Copilot frequently pull data straight from GBP.
GBP Checklist:
Complete every single field (services, categories, hours, Q&A, attributes)
Upload 100+ geo-tagged photos (storefront, team, neighborhood, products)
Post weekly updates: promos, events, seasonal FAQs
Reply to every review with service + city terms
Keep NAP 100% consistent across directories
A well-optimized GBP is no longer optional (not that it ever really was), it’s how you win Maps, AI Overview, and “near me” citations.
Now let's talk about what sort of pages you should be building out.
AI Overviews now surface above the map pack in most markets.
How to earn those spots:
Create ZIP + neighborhood-specific service pages with:
Embedded map
Local photos
FAQ blocks with exact-match city queries
Internal links to main service + contact pages
Add FAQ schema to make answers machine-readable
Keep pages fast and mobile-first, AI engines now penalize slow loaders
I also want to touch on the importance of reviews when it comes to local.
These days reviews are training data for AI.
Claude and Perplexity are now surfacing review text inside summaries.
Your move:
Ask every customer for a review via SMS/email immediately after service
Display your best reviews on-site and in your GBP
Reply with keywords like “Thanks for trusting us for AC repair in Scottsdale”
Target 150+ reviews per location
More reviews = more citations in AI answers = more clicks.
And please for the love of god, fix your technical SEO.
This is the silent killer for local sites. If your site is slow or broken, AI won’t trust you.
Technical Checklist:
Core Web Vitals: LCP < 2.5s, CLS < 0.1, INP < 200ms
Lazy load images, convert to WebP/AVIF
Submit XML sitemap monthly to Google + Bing
Fix broken links, redirect chains, duplicate content
Implement structured data:
LocalBusiness
Service
Review
FAQ
Event (if seasonal promos)
Also, when it comes to content creation, intent really matters.
AI and Google are now prioritizing fresh, structured, local-specific content.
What to publish:
Hub page: “Complete Guide to [Service] in [City]”
Service pages: “[Service] in [ZIP]” with photos, pricing, map, FAQ
Blog posts: “5 Common [Service] Problems in [City] (and Cost to Fix)”
Seasonal posts: “Best Fall Maintenance Checklist for [City] Homeowners”
Add TL;DR or key takeaway boxes, Perplexity loves summarizable content.
Let me also touch on the importance of branded searches, which isn't necessarily strictly a local thing, but is very important to local as well.
Exact-match branded search volume is one of the most underutilized ranking signals in 2025.
Ways to boost it:
Social CTAs: “Search [Business Name] reviews on Google”
Share transformation stories tied to location
Run retargeting ads with 5-star reviews + city mentions
Offer local promos: “Free HVAC inspection in Pasadena this week”
Even small lifts in branded search move your site up in AI and Google rankings.
Finally, let's talk analytics.
Traffic is not the same thing as leads. Focus on:
Branded search growth (GSC)
GBP views, calls, direction requests
AI Overview presence (SEO Stuff tracking)
Review volume + keyword usage
Conversion rate on service + location pages
Review these weekly, double down on what drives calls and bookings.

You must do all 3 for the DM.
A father took his daughter to the mall just to connect to Wi-Fi so she could do her school project research.
You can fail as a man, but never fail as a father. 🙌🏿😭
One of the most beautiful stories ever 🥹❤️
Brother, your rest is sacred.
Your body heals when you sleep.
Don’t let signals interrupt that.
I started turning off my Wi-Fi at night.
At first, it felt strange like missing out.
But then I began sleeping deeper.
I woke up clearer, calmer, stronger.
It's like turning off a noisy fan in your room, you don’t notice it until it’s gone.
Your mind deserves silence.
Your body needs peace.
And your soul thrives in stillness.
Sleep is not just rest, it's recovery.
Even your phone needs to charge undisturbed.
So why not give your brain the same respect?
Your dreams don’t need Wi-Fi.
Your goals need you sharp in the morning.
What small change can you make tonight to protect your peace?
