Some taxi drivers in Polokwane, Limpopo, have had an opportunity to experience a prototype electric minibus taxi that is set to be introduced in South Africa.

The 15-seater electric taxi takes between six and eight hours to charge and has a range of approximately 200–250km, depending on factors such as the load, road conditions and speed.

According to the pioneers, the plan is also to establish charging points at locations that are easily accessible to operators, including taxi ranks.
