“Sociology’s relentless focus on race, gender and class, its emphasis on the need for social change over the benefits of social stability and its obsession with inequality amount to an abdication of scholarly duty.”
Dear students and faculty, your safety matters to us. Please note that any unlawful assemblies or demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, which are strictly regulated as per the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, may invite legal action. Such activities can also pose serious risks to students’ personal safety and significantly impact their academic progress and professional opportunities. Accordingly, all students are urged to stay away from Jantar Mantar and to prioritise their safety and compliance with the law. Furthermore, you are advised to exercise caution as a significant amount of fake and misleading content is being created and circulated to fuel the situation.
"The analysis also highlights...an estimated US$41.9 million in article processing charges (APCs) collected by publishers for research that was later retracted."

Looking at SJS (SCopus Journal Services), which offers publication services. The publication head is Dr. Fiona Wilson.
The SJS web page says that she has a Google Scholar (we assume) h-index of 45. We checked and she actually has an h-index of 53 (see graphic with a red border).
But, we have some problems with this profile, which we'll touch on tomorrow.

We are commissioning one long-form book review (4000-5000 words) for the first issue of the @newdelhireview, to be released in July.
Looking forward to connecting with PhD scholars working broadly in economics, public policy, and development studies. There is an honorarium.

@LuizaJarovsky It feels so intelligent that even after knowing this the Managers are shutting down Humanities and Social Science departments.
What tragedy!

India has 45m students, the most in the world after China. Yet not one Indian institution features in the top 100 of any of the most-respected global rankings. Posh private universities are bent on changing that https://t.co/OuQg1mtouh
@Bethlehemtekola Good for a read not for practice. Academics has gone beyond repair as far as publishing is concerned.
I might be wrong but it is almost the truth.
I'm not even in the mood to joke about this, it's so depressing. You can't assign take-home essays anymore; it's completely pointless. Writing and reasoning abilities are very noticeably plummeting. Very discouraging to think where this is all going.
