@JoseMLuna As much as I enjoyed Samantha as Circe, I think Charlize would’ve been a great fit for the role. Calypso was also underwritten, and there just wasn’t enough material for her to leave a lasting impression. Vanessa Williams gave a much stronger performance in the 1997 miniseries.

@jake_theviking The Laestrygonians, Sirens, Scylla & Charybdis, and Calypso were especially disappointing, and those sequences never captured the sense of wonder or danger they should have. Such a huge ensemble cast, but half of the characters are underdeveloped and barely leave an impression.

@jake_theviking The biggest thing missing is the Greek fantasy element. This story is filled with gods, monsters, and mythology, yet the film barely embraces any of it. Everything felt dull and lifeless.

@JonasKilker This movie reminds me that Nolan’s biggest weakness is his writing. It’s a Greek myth full of gods, monsters, and fantasy, yet it barely embraces any of that. The cast never feels Greek, and the Laestrygonians, Sirens, Scylla & Charybdis, and Calypso were all disappointing.

@ZherkaOfficial My favorite performances in the movie. Everyone else either felt like they were playing themselves, were miscast, or were underused. At least Anne, Samantha, and Elliot really showed up and gave it their all.

@edwardbrgr Let’s not forget that she’s a total scene stealer. She proved it in The Whale (2022), She Said (2022), and now The Odyssey (2026). This is the kind of talent that deserves more opportunities and bigger roles. Hopefully we get to see much more of her in the future.

@ErickWeber Nearly a $200M budget, where did it all go? Jason Momoa is the only big name actor and he’s barely in the movie. It also tries way too hard to be Guardians of the Galaxy. James Gunn’s influence is all over it, and WB could really use someone to help balance his creative direction

@ErickWeber I think Supergirl struggled because it moved too far away from the source material. There was a great comic story to adapt, but the movie ended up feeling like its own thing. The controversy around Milly Alcock probably didn’t help either.

@ErickWeber Robin Hood was never a big enough IP to guarantee a crowd, and a 2 hour slow burn doesn’t help. The first 30 minutes had great energy, but the rest never matched it. If it had kept that pace throughout, it probably would’ve made more money.

@ScottDMenzel @BrianMcquery Not just Wyatt Russell, Colin Firth and Colman Domingo too. One looked like he was auditioning for an Oscar, one seemed half asleep, and the other acted like he wandered in from a completely different comedy. Quite the trio. 😂

@ErickWeber The movie just didn’t work for me. There was so much buildup, but the payoff never really came. Unfortunately, it’s one of the weakest films I’ve seen this year.

@ErickWeber For real! They’ve been playing the trailer before almost every movie for the last couple of months. If it ends up bombing, I don’t think it’s because people weren’t aware of it. Maybe audiences just weren’t interested, or it didn’t connect with them the way the studio expected.
