BREAKING: Mallam Nasir El-Rufai Denied Weekend Access to Lawyers as ICPC Imposes ‘Cruel, Inhuman’ Restrictions
Lawyers representing former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, have accused the ICPC of imposing a “cruel, inhuman and degrading” restriction by barring their client from consulting them on weekends and public holidays, limiting access to official working days only.
In a letter dated March 19, 2026, addressed to ICPC Chairman Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, El-Rufai’s counsel, Ubong Esop Akpan, Esq., demanded the immediate revocation of the policy, describing it as “arbitrary, capricious and unconstitutional.” The lawyers warned that the restriction renders El-Rufai’s constitutional right to legal counsel “illusory and meaningless,” particularly when matters involving him arise over the weekend.
El-Rufai’s team directly accused the ICPC Chairman of personal professional misconduct, arguing that the policy violates the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners 2007 and the Code of Conduct for Public Officers, which forbids arbitrary acts prejudicial to the rights of others.
El-Rufai’s team has issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding the revocation of the weekend ban, unrestricted access to their client, and written confirmation of compliance.
The lawyers warned that failure to comply would trigger urgent proceedings before the Federal High Court, alongside claims for exemplary damages.

From reforming institutions to serving eight years as Governor, Mallam’s record is public. If there are allegations about properties abroad, let them be transparently proven in court. Justice is stronger than speculation.

At Dankallah Group, we’re proud to be part of this journey, contributing to growth across industries, from shaping skylines to powering transport and securing the nation’s future.
Thank you, Dr. @shehu_mahdi, for visiting @dkgroup_co. It was a pleasure learning from you as Chairman of Dialogue Group and an activist for a better Nigeria.
I didn’t start in real estate. I started with a passion for Aerospace Engineering a field that taught me discipline, structure, and how to dream beyond limits. But life has a way of redirecting your purpose. Today, I find myself deeply rooted in building something far more grounded homes, tourism, communities, and a legacy through real estate, tourism & trade.
This journey is not about the industry shift it’s about staying true to the mission: creating value, solving problems, and impacting lives. At Dankallah Group @dkgroup.co , we are laying foundations not just with concrete, but with vision, integrity, and credibility. We’re proving that young people can lead, can build, and can redefine the standard.
To every young person out there, especially those still finding their path your background is your strength. Don’t ever think you need to have it all figured out from day one. Start with what you know, learn what you don’t, and walk boldly into what you believe in. The journey won’t always make sense at first, but consistency, clarity, and character will shape your success.
I’m not here just to build structures I’m here to build stories, to open doors, and to show that age, background, or limitations can never stop a determined soul.
We’re still building and the best part is just beginning.
