Fantastic response from @DavidShoebridge to a question from a journalist at The Australian on the “sensible centre” and equating the ugly politics of One Nation and the Coalition’s hate, division and punching down on migrants and others, with the Greens’ opposition to Israel’s genocide in Gaza

It's possible that in the span of one week, Bolsonaro loses in Brazil, Netanyahu loses in Israel, and Republicans lose the house and senate.
Here's hoping fascism loses everywhere.
AFP Commissioner Krissy Barrett calls out violent political rhetoric such as Pauline Hanson’s car ramming video—for having a "direct correlation" to real attacks on politicians.
Speers: “Like a cartoon that suggests someone should be hit by a car…?”
Barrett: Yep.💥 #auspol
As we think best thoughts for dear Helen Haines, my thoughts go back to this…
▪️The ‘Inquiry into Health Services for the Psychiatrically Ill and Developmentally Disabled’ was the 1983 Richmond Report.
▪️It led to closure of the big institutions replacing them with struggling community-based care and underfunded regional mental health services.
▪️Deinstitutionalisation was sorely needed but the neoliberal laissez-faire number-crunchers saw it just as a way to save government costs.
▪️I saw firsthand the effects, good and bad, and was engaged in picking up the pieces of this systematic failure.
▪️So many lives were lost or wasted, families left in misery, ‘clients’ left to twist in the wind, and generations of under-treated cases of mental illness drifting, sometimes screaming, through our communities.
▪️Only when there are murders - as in Bondi Junction - or attacks on prominent individuals - Helen Haines allegedly - does attention fall onto this monstrous ongoing community disaster.
👉 If this is not good enough, we need to pay the costs to fix it.
👉 If the public coffers are bare, then we need to raise taxes.
👉 We need to make the resource companies, banks, wealthy corporations, and the 1% uber rich pay, they can afford it.
Whose community is it anyway?

“I absolutely think there is more that the system can do to prevent people that are unwell causing harm.”

An ABC News live blog included a 1:34 video of Dr Haines being moved from an air ambulance in Melb. Filming a seriously unwell person on a stretcher from a distance and publishing it is an intrusion into one of the most private moments a person can have. I’ve lodged a complaint.
Blow: On June 1st, 1927 in queens, there was a giant Klan rally right? A thousand klansmen got into a scuffle with 100 police officers. And when the dust settled, seven. Only seven people were arrested. One of those people was Fred Trump.
Cooper: When I see this in print, I can verify
Phillip: The story has been reported many times.
Last night, Israeli occupation forces dropped barrels over the skies of Gaza. When we saw them, we thought: finally, perhaps this world will have mercy on us from this injustice, and they will kill us while we sleep.
But about half an hour later, those barrels opened in the sky, resembling bubbles. Unfortunately, there was no death inside them.
Instead, an extremely foul smell, like feces, spread everywhere. It seeped into homes and tents, into people’s chests and their breathing.
My nephew Fathi, who suffers from asthma, could not sleep all night. More than once, he choked and struggled to breathe because of the smell.
Even the air is something they begrudge us. They want to take away our last breath.
They want us to breathe the stench of this world’s filth—the smell of helplessness and complicity with all of this terrorism.
We are facing one of the lowest and dirtiest occupations in history. An occupation that does not want us to live, and does not even want us to breathe.
Macklemore just summed it all up perfectly:
“I am not a victim. Ed Sheeran is not a victim. Pink is not a victim. We have careers, money, opportunities, safety and audiences around the world. Whatever consequences any of us face for what we say, we get to go home to our families.
The victims are the Palestinian people. The men, women and children who have been killed, starved, displaced and forced to live through unimaginable violence. More than 20,000 children have been killed in Gaza alone.”
Enough is enough. Stop the genocide and stop the assault on free speech that Israel is waging to silence any and all criticism of its barbaric policies.
While Cathy Wilcox is taking a well-deserved break, I'm sure we all have powerful favourites to share. There's so very many.
Always a strong arm, speaking truth to power. Cathy Wilcox dared to be great, and she is all of that.

The IDF has admitted that Lt Roy Oryon of the Golani Brigade fired on a convoy of ambulances killing 15 medics & rescue workers, they then bulldozed the bodies & the crushed vehicles into the sand.
On Sunday he will be given @nswpolice protection to run the Sydney Marathon.
Dozens of Palestinian children gathered at the Gaza port in a protest rejecting Israeli incitement against them.
The children waved Palestinian flags and held signs reading "Our kites are not weapons" and "Stop targeting our joy."
I don’t know who will care about what I’m saying, but something very serious has been happening in Gaza for the past few days, and it is happening repeatedly in a deeply frightening way.
Late at night, while families are asleep, special forces enter areas where displaced people are gathered and arrest men from among their families, in front of their wives and children, before taking them to unknown locations.
This happened yesterday, it happened today, and it has happened in the days before as well. And one question keeps haunting all of us: Why is this happening? Where are they taking these men? What will happen to them? And why are they entering areas where displaced people are staying in the middle of the night and taking men away from their families?
No one tells us anything. We don’t know who will be next, whether those detained will ever return to their families, or even what awaits them after they are taken away.
This is no longer a single incident that can simply be ignored. It is something happening repeatedly right in front of us, and it seems to be happening more and more. We are living with unanswered questions and a very real fear that one of us could be next, without knowing why or where they will take us.
I renew my appeal for an end to the ongoing violence against the Palestinian civilian population in the West Bank, and I urgently call on the international community to work toward advancing the two-state solution, for a just and lasting peace.
I am in shock - watching Israeli mobs and army destroying Palestinian life.

Norway as the guardian of the Oslo Accords,

what are you doing to stop the violent pogroms??
