Centeotl, the Maize Himself. In this pastel painting inspired by an ancient Maya figure, a farmer lifts an ear of corn that opens to reveal the young “God” within it.

Part of my ongoing exploration of Mexica and wider Mesoamerican sacred imagery through codex-inspired painting.
