त्याच्या बोलण्यातला अभ्यास, समाज-राजकारणाची समज, भाषेवरची पकड आणि कष्टकरी माणसांविषयीची संवेदनशीलता पाहिली की एक गोष्ट स्पष्ट होते—प्रतिभेला महागड्या पदवीची गरज नसते; संधीची गरज असते.

आणि लल्लनटॉपचा पत्रकार रजत पांडे… त्याने घेतलेली ही मुलाखत म्हणजे केवळ प्रश्नोत्तर नाही, तर एका दुर्लक्षित भारताला आवाज देण्याचा प्रयत्न आहे.

देशाच्या झोपडपट्ट्यांमध्ये, छोट्या गावांत आणि दुर्लक्षित वस्त्यांमध्ये असे कितीतरी इरफान आजही आहेत. प्रश्न त्यांच्या क्षमतेचा नाही, तर त्यांना व्यासपीठ मिळतं का याचा आहे.

It is not that they doesn't carry voting power, they do, but often disengages from the electoral process yet exerts outsized influence over govt policy, media narratives, and state resources. Sainath had repeatedly highlighted this paradox.

The urban middle class doesn't carry voting power to change governments. But strangely it enjoys a moral and mental influence over those who do. The percolation of this influence is haphazard and builds up slowly. But it explodes with a suddenness that can be noisy and unruly (Nepal, Bangladesh) or electorally assertive (Tamil Nadu, UK). The change happens after trigger events or moments that intelligence agencies fail to assess properly.

Strongly condemn the detention of Sonam Wangchuk and Abhijeet Dipke by the Delhi Police. Instead of sacking the Education Minister under whose nose the scandalous leak of papers happened and dismantling the system that continues to ruin the future of lakhs of students, the government is coming down with a heavy hand on peaceful protesters.
