पहलगाम हमले से बस ५-१० दिन पहले ही जब मैं कश्मीर में था तो मैं पूरी तरह से मोदी विरोधी एथिस्ट हिंदू बनकर लोगों से बात करता रहा। वो बहुत ख़ुश थे। दुर्भाग्य से आख़िरी दिन मुझे लेने जब मेरे एक बेहद पावरफुल मित्र आए अपने कारवाँ के साथ तो वो सब सन्नाटे में थे; उनके मन में ये भय था कि अब कहीं उनकी उठाईगीरी ना हो क्योंकि वो लगातार इंडियन आर्मी, मोदी सरकार के ख़िलाफ़ ताबड़तोड़ बयानबाजी क��� रहे थे। और उन्हें ये भी एहसास हुआ कि ये आदमी रैंडम एथिस्ट टूरिस्ट नहीं है।

मुझे कुरान की बारीकियां बताते हुए ये भी बताया गया कि “हिंदुओं की गीता में भी कुरान का जिक्र है”.. शिया और सुन्नी विवाद पर जमकर शियाओं वाले इलाके की बुराई की जा रही थी; घृणा की दृष्टि से भी बुरी तरह।

कश्मीर जैसी सुंदर जगह ऐसी मानसिकता के कब्जे में है जिसका लंबा इलाज सोचे बिना ट्रीटमेंट संभव नहीं।
